Edge or Intake first

Hey guys,

I am wondering if I should get the Edge evo or a Cold air intake first for my 04 supercrew v8 5.4l. If I get the Evo is it even worth it to get the intake if I already have a k and n drop in?

Should I get the evo or the xcal 2?

id get the xcal2 from TP. it would be nice to get the cai first so that when they make your custom tunes, they can tune for the intake but the tuner will get you more hp then the cai

OP - just be aware that the 04's had many units running lean right from the factory. An Edge cannot correct for that, and a CAI may well exacerbate the condition.

For an 04 or even an 05, more than any other year(s), I would advise a custom tune.

Good luck. There is a lot of info on this issue on his site.

I just ordered my tunes from Troyer and currently my truck is stock as far as performance. I told them that down the road im adding more things like exhaust and intake and would that make a difference. They said no that the tuner will be fine with the truck stock and after i do my mods. So either way the tuner will work fine whether you have mods now or later.

On a out of the box Evo, maybe not but with a Custom tune you can have the CAI compensated for. And it's only 50 bux for the tune.

My bad - I did mean 'out-of-the-box', Bill.

How many 'value files' or equivalent have you developed to date?

On just the F150s? I've lost count. But when you figure that I have been tuning the Ford PCMs since 1996 that I might have at least a couple of them. *LOL* Then figure in all the 7.3L, 6.0L, 6.4L and V10 trucks, Mustangs, Contours, and whatnot, you end up with a lot of stuff!

In fact, I have had to upgrade the server and it now has a 1TB RAID drive just to hold all the garbage. Talk about an organizational nightmare.

Later, y'all.

Bill
