After 1 week with the Edge...

I've been running level 2 on my 2005 5.4L Supercab XLT.

I loaded level 2 last Friday and thought I would provide a little feedback so far.

1. Power is much better.
2. Fuel economy is better, but I need to adjust my tire size. I think I'm off by a little bit.
2. Shifting feels better overall. I love the way it shifts accelerating onto the highway from 2-3, and 3-4. Similar feeling on sweeping country roads.
3. Driveability is better on highway, country road, and around town, except it seems that during normal driving, i.e. normal acceleration from a stop, the 1-2 shift comes too high in RPM. It comes around 2500-2700, which I think is too high. This gets annoying in stop and go traffic and driving in neighborhoods with lots of stop signs.

Can the shift point for non-WOT be adjusted?

CJ

Wow that seems kind of high for a standard shift point. I am running level 2 and with normal excel I think it shifts a little under 2000 and if I really baby the throttle it will shift at like 1500 from 1-2 and thats even with the STD shift points raised very slightly....so I would suggest just going into the custom settings and settings the 1-2 STD shift point setting lower and test it out.

I have the same concern about the high rpm when shifting from 1-2. I don't like the stock setting and the level 2 seems a little high for me but some wheres in between would be great. I tried adjusting the std shift point to -1 to have the truck shift a little sooner but when I took it for a test drive the trans seemed as though it was slipping on take off. It would rev up and jerk alittle and then take off. I set is back to the canned level 2 settings and it worked great still had the high rpm though.

Any thoughts

I did RTFM but it didn't help.:o

You would think that adjusting the std shift points would just decrease the rpms it shifts at and not case the truck to buck and jerk like it does. Whenever I just use the level 2 settings it works great just the rpm's are a little high.

Any other thoughts

I have noticed the 1-2 shift being a little higher than usual on level 2 and I think it is to help get loads moving while towing. I just compensate by adjusting my driving style a little bit to fit the shift in better. I have never tried level 3 to see if the 1-2 shift is the same there.

That was a bug and it was fixed back in October. Download the current firmware and software releases and it will be gone.

I downloaded the lastest update and it took the away the bucking and jerking when I adjust shift points. I still have the vibration when I hit the gas hard though. Do you think it could be something else? The vibration only happens at high rpms.

Consider yourself lucky, when I had my F150, I had horrible problems with driveability with the Edge ..

Ya i have read some people having awful problems with there edge so ya I guess I should consider myself lucky. But this problem is annoying me to no end. I have read earlier that it could be motor mounts. Is there a way to check these yourself? So at least you could show a mechanic what the problem could be.

I had issues as well, but since the latest update my edge works flawlessly.
