Which Programmer?????
I have a 01 F-150 XLT Extended Cab Sport.. The truck has the towing package on it... It is a DD with 116,000 on it and has been a great truck... I tow a 5500 lb TT with it about 15 times a year 120 miles round trip on average... I also drive about 100 miles a day round trip to and from work... I am looking for a tuner or some quick bolt ons to give that old 4.6 a little more power to tow with and also picking up some mpg for the daily drives would be ok as well.... I am also thinking about upgrading trucks at some point and would welcome any comments on a new truck? F250? F150? PSD? 5.4? 4.6? Advantages? Disadvantages? Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks

You should order a hypermaxx programmer for your new 08 F-250
, or just look to troyer they will be able to help you. If you want the tuner this week you should check out a canned tuner(Edge, Superchip, Diablo) the list goes on.

Don't get me wrong I love my edge and for what I wanted (instant results with a lower cost at the time) it was perfect, but the edge does seem to have it's quirks that frustrate some people here. I've never had a problem, but with troyer tuning you'll know that you have a tune specifically for your truck.
I just recently got tunes from Troyer for my '05 4.6L and I'd highly recommend them.. Bear in mind that I've only had 'em a couple weeks and haven't had a chance to try the tow tune yet.. but the 87 perf tune makes it an entirely different truck.. Next up is trying out the 93 perf..

I have had no problems towing my 5,400 lb boat with either my F-150 or my Explorer -- both with Troyer custom tuning.
I have enough torque multiplication and power to spin the tires on my F-150when trying to pull away from a stop light too fast with the boat. Now that's a good problem to have!!!!!!!

OK... Seems Troyer is the way.... So how much will this set me back and what kind of time frame am I looking at? As it seems like there must be a delay in getting these units... I imagine I just call or email Troyer with the specifics for my vehicle and he just does a custom tune for it? Thanks for everyones help!!
