Well, TP has an extremely high first-iteration success rate - typically, logging isn't required unless you are running a wonky set of aftermarket bolt-ons, or he has deemed your truck specifically may benefit - at which point he will advise you up front.

Example - TP uses two MAF TF's for the 3.5" AF1; depends on the vehicle - and to make absolutely sure the one that was applied to the tunes was correct, he may request data.

He makes it as easy as possible to do, given the task - and any tuning changes, if required are included in the original cost within 60 days.

I did this and, upon review of my logs, I did not require any adjustments. The tunes were spot-on, as they mostly are. However, if you see the thread posted by Fordscrew24, you can see where that data would be extremely valuable in a 'remote' troubleshooting/tweaking capacity.

If you want to be at ease, call them and ask about this.

Man I'm hoping so.. I'm off work this week and only a few things planned, so I'm hoping to get the tunes and drive cycle the hell out of 'em!!.. LOL

I've got a good friend with an '06 and he's scared to do anything other a K&N drop in filter.. even tho he loves my intake and exhaust.. I'm hoping once he gets a taste of Troyers tunes he'll finally take the plunge!!

cdnance, I forgot, what intake and other mods are you running? Wait until you try the 93. I can feel more in the 2-4k rpm range over the 87. More than anything these tunes make the truck such a pleasure to drive normally imo. My truck is heavy and then dogged by heavy tires, etc. and while straight line acceleration was good, highway merging and passing sometimes felt like an effort and too much throttle input/downshifting, but not anymore. The transmission is so much better now and not just shift pressure but the overall behavior of it and combined with the extra power it is really fun to drive. I think this set up maximizes the strengths of the truck but also really improves the weaknesses (tranny and occasional sluggishness especially).

my mods are minimal for now. i have the 3" AF1 (which now i am wishing i got the 3.5"), and a magnaflow. that is about it. as far as performance and engine are concerned.

as far as the slushbox of a transmission... just from driving for a few minutes, i felt like i had a new truck. quick snappy shifts. the way it shifted reminded me of a 5-speed.

i had been driving my 97 the last few days, but when i got in the 05 loaded the tune and took off, i noticed a differance right away. just pulling out of the driveway, the response was brand new to me.

before the tunes it always felt like the truck was dragging it's feet at WOT, but you are right about the 2-4K. definately feels stronger.

Now I'm wishing I hadn't filled up on 87 on Saturday.. LOL

Ah well, I can go through that tank quick enough!! I REALLY want to try out the 93 perf.

The shifts were one of the main reasons I ordered from Troyer.. they're so weak stock and 99% of what I've heard and read here says that TP pretty much nails 'em...

I'd rather have a doctor take out my appendix than try and finesse that bitch out myself.. why I stayed away from the Edge.. LOL

Yep, I was freaked out when I first drove it b/c it felt so different. Ford dropped the ball if this tranny can feel this good and they have that sloppy programming in it.

I wouldn't stress about the 3-inch too much. If I remember correctly Mike told me that the 3-inch can give a little more down low while the 3.5-inch comes in a little higher. We have about the same minimal mods except I re-geared due to the tires. I thought about fans and all but hesitant on that. Dynatech long tubes would be awesome but freakin' pricey with install. I'm stoked for now and it is finally what I'd originally set out for.

hell yeah, i liked driving the truck before, but now i LOVE driving it. it is enjoyable.

yeah i would also like to go with some long tubes, high flow cats, and some e-fans, but i just have too much other stuff going on right now.

what really sucks is that i have an open diff. i would like to get an LS, just havent gotten around to it yet.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your posts in this thread, they are greatly appreciated.

Just so everyone will know, we took care of cdance's other tune - he changed his order and only part of that got thru to me, but as soon as the entire change he requested was brought to me attention I made the new tune right away and we sent it out within an hour or so, so I'm sure he should have it by now.

And yes, thanks again to MGDFan, he does a wonderful job of helping everyone out here and is a great representative for F-150 Online in general - he is what this site is all about, and what the best in our membership represents here.

By the way - Vic, I'm, hoping you got the new tunes, and hope you are enjoying them. We do indeed continue our R&D - this is an absolute must, and we put more R&D into the F-150's tuning than all the other tuning companies combined, we always have. Which is not really smart from a business standpoint, as F-150 tuning, if you really want to do it right, requires far more expense in testing and refining for all the variations & strategies that Ford hands us than could ever be recouped from the sales of tuning - we stay alive only due to all the other parts we sell and the major project vehicles we do, lie the Roush truck and all the other forced-induction and heads & cams setups that we do here.

Our bests to all,

Hi again, Mike;

Thanks very much for the kind words. I am indeed a simple end-user with a desire to help; I make mistakes along the way, get corrected, learn from that, and just keep at it. And enjoy the heck outta myself doing it! lol! There are, truly, a lot of really great folks on here, and they are worth the effort.

Yes I did indeed receive the new tunes and I am, actually, somewhat speechless (there are some on here who won't believe that, lol!).

While adaptive is still doing it's thing, the changes are very apparent, launch off-the line and midrange is significantly improved; there is a long 6% grade I travel each day and the increase in grunt is stellar on this climb - torque curve in the crucial 2,000 rpm region is certainly fatter - even more effortless than it was before. I franky had not believed any more improvement or yet another jump in refinement overall, was possible. Well, this put those concerns to rest, lol.

My extreme top end is still restricted somewhat due to the stock intake, but even so, I revel in winding out with regularity; it is such a pleasure to drive this truck with your tuning. Shifts? Perfect, as always - linearly progressive in terms of firmness.

Throttle response - ETC mapping is no less than a work of art. The improvements here in immediacy and refinement is a tribute to your skill, all the testing, relentless attention to detail and sheer hard work to make a complex system behave like a direct connection, while retaining all of the advantages, which made it complex to begin with.

My wife wants you to know though, I'm having too much fun !

I could not be happier - this is something folks with older tuning certainly should consider doing.

Very much appreciated, Mike. Thank-you!

Regards;
Vic
