Sorry I missed this the first time you asked, currently we do not have a tuning that compensates for the addition of a CAI. But after seeing the demand for that type of tuning I have brought it to the attention of engineering and they asked me to start compliling a list of the most popular CAI stating that a specific tune will have to be developed each CAI. If you have any suggestions on CAIs that you would like to see tuning developed for please shoot them my way.
Darnell,
I'm in Memphis.. I currently have an '06 5.4 with an AFe stage II CAI. It is the newest from AFe.. uses a sealed air box.. I'd be happy to supply the truck if y'all are interested in some testing. I know y'all used to do this way back in the day.. I gave you guys a 1993 Mustang Cobra for testing.. Let me know

Thumper did you have a chance to dyno your truck stock if so what did it put down? I ask because I'm trying to understand why some are so astonished by the numbers our truck made stock.
While talking to one of the engineers about this thread he suggested that I take a look at our dyno graph for the 05+ Mustang GT for comparison. Like the 5.4 the 4.6 is rated at around 300 HP (305 HP to be exact). The Mustang we used for developing tuning was an 05 GT with an automatic. And like with the F150; when we dyno tested the GT we used a harness to put the car in 3rd and lock the converter. It experienced a similar percentage of drive train loss and dynoed 258 HP & 263 TQ at the wheels.

That is the exact same graph that I posted in this thread. If you look closer at what you post you will see that it says "223 HP at 3590 RPMs and 280 TQ at 1680 RPMs." Those are not the peak HP & TQ numbers. That is there to show where in the RPM range the peak gains are. If you have any more questions about any of the graphs on posted on Hypertech.com please feel free to ask me.

That would also be true for a truck that had our tuning installed it should dyno about 10% higher than what we claim.
93 Octane tuning (and gas)
3.08 No LS
30" tires
Increased Shift Firmness
1-2 +200
2-3 +200
That's it. Is the CEL affecting any performance gains I may not be getting from the hypertech? Is there a firmware update I can get? I bought the unit from theRPMoutlet brand new.
testimonials? I see alot of people with Edge Evolution, a few with Hypertech Max Energy. is it just that Hypertech is too new? Cost is similar (Hypertech @ $379, Edge @ ~$450), but I like the Edge with it's mount. Any problems running either with CAI and Exhaust? I plan on running either Banks or S&B intake, and Banks Monster single out or Maggie dual side out. It seems here some people are fine, some seem to run lean...is it an easy fix? Thank you.
Im running a K&N CAI with SI/DO Magnaflow with my EDGE and runs GREAT! However ive seen other post about problems with the EDGE. But I guess Im one of the lucky ones.
Good Luck!!

I'm not so sure where you're going with bringing a Mustang GT into this. We're talking way different transmissions. Hell, the damn 1/4 mile times for the manual and automatic 2005+ Mustang GT are the same thing so that tells you something. It tells you that it's got a very good transmission. We don't.
ThumperMX113,
Here is a dyno graph of an all gear run with the converter unlocked, laid over a dyno graph of a single gear run with the converter locked up. This was the same 04 F150, but on a different day and a different dyno. This way you can ssee the diffrence in the power that makes it to the wheels locked and unlocked.

Hypertech is going to start developing CAI tunes for the 04+ F150s and when engineering gets started I’m going to have them verify both the stock and tuned numbers. I’m also going to take SFM up on his offer to use his truck so we can get numbers from two different trucks and see how they stack up on our dyno and one that belongs to a local shop.
