My Edge experience
Well,
I just received my Edge this past Friday, and with all of the questions here, thought I would post my experiences with it so far. Im running a 2005 F-150 5.4Liter Flareside with 35" MTs. No other mods other than dual exhaust flow masters (which suck by the way).My edge installed flawlessly into the truck, started out with level 2 and was impressed with the trucks throttle response and trans shift points. I then ran the gas out of a couple days and filled it with 93 oct, ran the level 3 and this brought about 1 second better 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times but does not feel stronger when driving around town normally. Seems this is mostly for top end power, so I agree with some of the others post here being that level 2 is better overall.
Now for problems I have had..... I too tried to change my tire size from stock to meet my 35s and by the book I raised it 100mm to begin with as I need over 400mm total (book says to increase slowly) I also set the WOT fuel up 10%.
My test run with these settings were not good, only these 2 changes I made and the trans shifted in and out like crazy and I had no power, So took it home and changed it back to level 2,, (quickly I might add.)
Now today I updated it online with the latest beta calibration (as I had no other choice) and my 0-60 times went from 9.2 sec to 12.65 sec. Dont know what happened here, wrote the program into the truck again tonight and my times changed from the 12.65 to 9.1 and it's running great again.
Other than that I have found that the option in the software for displaying the recorded charts is missing, only DTC option is there for reading trouble codes. I am going to write Edge shortly and ask where this option went to.
Later.
one thing I have found is you have to return it to stock before you make any changes I have also found that when I try to make changes to wot on and shift points with my edge it seems to now like it so I just leave it at stock settings for those .
Any one have any suggestions?

I dont know why it tells you to adjust the tire size slowly. Just input the right tire size. I have all my shift firmness at #6 (just my prefrence) Right now im at level 2. Drive your truck a few drive cycles and see how it runs. I just updated my Edge last night and it seems to run great.
This is (to the best of my recall) the second time on this forum that someone has mistakenly believed they have to make small changes to the tire circumference. This is a misunderstanding of the instructions in the manual. If you reread the manual, you will see that the cautionary statement regarding gradual changes actually refers to most engine/transmission parameters, not the tire circumference.
One of the reasons you may have been experiencing trouble with Level 3 is because your tire circumference was input incorrectly--this may have confused the PCM regarding the actual speed of your truck, which then led to an erratic shift schedule (and the speedometer will show a slower speed than you are actually going). Also, your 0-60 times were off on Level 3 because the PCM believed you had a smaller tire on your truck. If you can, perform the tire circumference measurement procedure in the Edge manual, or use a GPS to check the accuracy of your speedometer.
Retry the Level 3 program using the correct tire size, and check that your axle ratio is correct, too. (Be sure to press "Enter" after viewing your axle ratio--do not use "Menu" to back out of the screen.) After a few drive cycles, try your 0-60 time again. I think this will eliminate most of the problems you are experiencing.
Good luck!

Yes. it will have a default gear ratio. If the default is what you have in your truck, then hit enter, otherwise you must enter the ratio you actually have.
I love level 3 shift patters and the power band so that is all I run. Over 25,000 miles with no problems.

Ok, I looked the manual over again and ur right, they mention the gradual changes in bold lettering just under the tire size section and then the next title proceeds with the tranmission adjustments.
Guess I was in a hurry to go punch some buttons and mash on the petal right :>). Well Im going to give this another try but I need one question answered, where do I find the correct gear ratios on my truck? The edge defaults to 3.73. If this was already in the PCM then I assume it is correct.
And with my GPS I know that my guage is showing 3 mph slow with 35" tires. But I guess I can still use the timer to see that Im getting faster as I learn to tweak this thing.
Oh yea before I forget, has anyone put out a good list showing the limits for the custom settings? Whats to low and whats to high? And the spark alert, is this the before top dead center, or a pre detonation sensor?
Oh and about my recording chart missing from the program, I found the EXE file in the root folder. I have a lightning3.exe file and a lightning.exe file. But only one shortcut appeared in my startup menu for some reason. But I got it straight.
Thanks guys.
