SCT Xcal2

Howdy, new to the Forum, I have an Xcal2 that I bought for my Mustang, traded off the Stang, local shop told me they can reprogram the Xcal so it will work for my truck (04 FX4) for $150.00 does that sound reasonable ? My truck is totally stock, I just towed a 4 place ATV trailer over some pretty steep hills on a trip to the Desert, got 21 MPG, which I think is great, what would I have to do to get any better milage ?

Welcome to the site!
Now for the bad news, 21mpg while towing is pretty insane, and pretty much unbelievable!

21MPG is far from crap when it comes to these trucks and thats on flat ground, no cargo and for sure no trailer! Another strike against is 4x4.
I'm getting 13.5 average with my mods, but even stock my best was 15-16mpg with 3.73 gearing .
Was the trailer loaded, also what gearing does the FX4 come with?
As far as the XCAL2, just give Troyer a call and they will get you all lined up!

What size engine? 21 mpg is unbeleivable for a 5.4l.

I had a full tank of gas when we left, 36985 miles, I gassed up the next morning after we got back, 37214 miles, that's 529 miles right ? I put 24.919 gallons of 87 Octane in, close enough to call 25 gallons, 25 into 529 = 21.16 I will check the next tank, it will be mostly around town driving so I expect it to be lower, and I do have the 5.4 engine.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your calculations are off by 300 miles. 37214-36985=229 not 529 giving you a MPG of 9.16
