HyperTech 3 won't program
HyperTech 3 won't program
I picked up a hypertech programmer 3 used. Plugged it in and ran through the setup and at the last point when it asks to program it with the settings I hit "y" and it just resets back to the first question about octane rating.
Any ideas?

I got it figured out. I did it with the driver door shut, radio off, and seat belt latched then it worked. So it might just be a little picky.
I only programmed 87 octane but I turned up the shift points and rev limiter. That alone made it much snappier to drive. It shifts much firmer and keeps in lower gears longer. In stock form the automatic shifts so early and makes it feel doggy. It's much funner to drive now. I think some 3.55's in the axle would really wake up this truck.

i dont have the hypertech 3 but did have a hypertech max energy, and it should ask you to turn the key to off then hit Y or turn the key to on, and hit Y, but if not then call their tech support they were very helpful with mine, but i've now returned it because it didnt make much difference in power towing, and the mpg actually went down .5mpg so i'm considering trying the Edge since so many F150 guys seem to think its the best for Fords.
