Jet performance module

I got a jet performance module from a friend who had it in a 99 f-250 SD with a 5.4 and i have a 01 f-150 with a 5.4. people told me it should work, but when i plug it in the truck will crank but not start, when i unplug it it starts. am i supposed to do something special to make it work, i just tried plugging it in?
thanks

The chip won't work on your truck. You need the correct chip from Jet for the year and engine of your truck. You're best bet is to throw the one you have up on EBAY for no reserve (I just sold one a few months ago for $75) and apply the money you make to a programmer.

Unless you plan on buying a 99 5.4L, the chip you have is useless to you. Run the model # against this site and you'll see what I mean.

Sorry.

jet is nothing but a paperweight anyway, ran one on my 97 for bout 6 months and hardly noticed anything. got a flip chip from mike and nite and day diff. xcal2 is way to go, ull love the tunes and its specificly for ur truck. and being able to reset trouble codes and datalog is also a plus
