well that should help you out a bit. If not then do a serch and you should find some. I didn't look too long and found that. There was one thread like 4 or 5 pages long about the 5.4

I have only had mine for two weeks and i love it. Mines a 5spd so i noticed a ton of power in the middle rpms. There were hills that i drive regularly and i wouldn't be able to hold 75mph on. I would drop to the 65ish. With the edge i was able to hold them at 72-73.

I also noticed a slight increase in mpg. Like everyone else i was able to get about 1-3 more after installing it. I have done a ton of playing around with the differnt "custom" tuning on differt levels of octane and i was able to get a little better mpg's. But the down side was i was always putting my foot into this new found power and then it just went back to normal mpg's. Not bad, i got more power for the same mpg's!!!!!

As far as get up and go it was amazing the differance. I ended up having to send my edge back to them and had to return the truck back to stock. I had only had it a week and after returning it to stock i hated driving it. IT made that much differance.

If your just looking for a tuner and you can wait i would recomend talkign to mike about his Xcal2. I didn't have 2 months to wait and i wnated the gauges anyways. There way cool.

Everyone i have talked to says that mike can pull just a bit more out of them. But then you dont get the guages and you have to wait

I would recomend the edge and i wont own another pickup with out one.

It really made it more fun to drive.

If you want to know more about it just let me know. I get a little long winded some times. LOL. Not to many people i have found on here have the 4.6 and an edge. I think mainly due to the fact that everyone has the 5.4. I have been trying to talk to people that also have done some "costom" tuning so that we can share numbers back and forth.

I have an F150 with the 4.6 and it has an annoying habit of pinging when going up hill while towing a 2400lb boat. 92 octane helps some but doesn’t eliminate the problem. I’m looking at the Edge level 2 programming as a possible solution.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to the Edge or another solution to this problem? Of course with the price of gas I’d like to be able to tow on 87 octane.

Details:
1997 F150 short bed 4x4 Auto - stock except for 10% oversize tires ( 265/75R16 vs. 235/70R16SL original)

I've run level 2 and 3 now, and for my type of driving I prefer the bottom end that level 2 provides.

Level 1 is pretty much stock but you can change shift points and different settings.Level two is has more power on the low end compared to level 3 and is used more for towing or every day driving. You can run 87 octance with this setting which is nice because you dont have to use the expensive premium gas. Level three is has more power on the top end but it requires 91+ octane.People seem to use this setting more for highway driving and "road trips" w/out towing or you can just run it everyday but not everyone does this since gas is so high.. Ive only had it for about a month now so I dont know much but I have done a lot of reading on this subject so I think this is fairly accurate. Right now I got it on level 3 and I love it when cruising...makes passing so nice...BUT...I usualy run 2 as you can run a cheaper fuel and it still gives you some nuts.On both levels 2 and 3 I see a nice increase in gas milege(my other mods could help too). I usualy get around 16.5 with 50/50 town/highway driving. I still havent made a road trip with just highway but Im pretty sure I can get around 18 no problem when I used to struggle to get to 15.

I agree with that. I also saw an increase. Im a doing all my driving int level 2 buti am running 92octane fuel and have chagned my tuning to match that octane as far as timing. I love it and would not go back.

I just ordered the Edge and can't wait till it gets here. It was kind of tough trying to decide exactly what programmer I wanted and how much I wanted to spend, but in the end I decided that the edge seemed to have alot of positive reviews and having the gauges seemed cool too. I was really torn between getting custom tuning and something else, but the way I figured it was that I would try the edge out and most likely would be happy with it and then later on if I really wanted custom tuning I could order it and still be able to use the Edge for monitoring.
