question about troyer...
i have been looking to up the performance on my truck. i have a 05 f150 supercab, and i have been reading a lot about troyer. just from what i have heard on here as well as from others, that is the way to go. my question is, that i have heard about troyer's custom tunes, but when i went to the website, all i could find was superchips. is this what everyone is talking about, are they the same thing, or am i looking in the wrong place???

Here you go ...http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips&start=20
This is the page where the custom-tuning products are (from SCT, not Superchips - two different companies).
Best bet is to simply call them as the pricing does not reflect your member discount....
Cheers

Hey cdnance
Welcome to the forum
TP’s custom tuning is, IMO, the way to go. I’ve used Mikes’ tunes on my 04 Screw since 12-03-04 and have never had a problem; ultra reliable. The best bang for the buck performance mod I’ve done

Give Mike and the folks at Troyer Performance a call and they will ensure you get the right product for your truck. I've had my Xcal II and custom tunes for a couple days now and this has been the best investment I have made to my truck. I'm getting ready to set out for a 3000 mile family vacation tomorrow morning and these tunes are going to make a world of difference.
With just Mike's tunes you could see about 40 more at the wheels on high octane gas. If you get the big three mods (intake, tunes, exhaust) the norm is about 250-260 hp at the wheels, some more, some less (like mine)
i had heard that the air force intake is a good intake, would you agree? i had planned on that and i already have a cat back system. with those three should i be able to tell a noticable differance? i do a lot of towing and from time to time a lot of playing. i just dont want my truck to feel like a slug when im towing and feel like it has some ***** when im playing. would these three combined help that much?
Trending Topics
The Air Force one is a great intake, Troyer sells them and he will give you a package deal if you order it with your tunes. They come in two sizes 3" and 3.5", the smaller one can be used with the stock tune ( great if you have to take your truck into the dealership, you can return it to stock and leave the intake on) the larger one will give you a slight increase in power, but requires a custom tune so your truck will not throw a code. The AF1 intake makes more power than any other intake out there...PERIOD
These trucks with a 5.4 make about 200-205 at the wheels stock, so yes they will make a HUGE difference.
If you have a flowmaster exhaust, get rid of it, they are known to kill power on these trucks, get something that has a straight flow-thru design that you can see thru, they make more power.

Hi cdnance,
The reason you see so many people rave about us here is really a matter of our competence on these vehicles and our customer support & service - it sems like we darn near invented the F-150 performance market (that's a bit of a stretch of course, but it gives you an idea of how long we've been at it, since before there really was an "F-150 performance market"), and even to this day, we are the only company that truly specializes in the F-150 platform to the level that we do, which we have been doing for over 15 years.
So we have tuned more of them, modified more of them, done more general performance R&D on them than anyone else - it's what we do. Because of our expertise on this platform, we routinely get called in to help many other tuners, dealers, manufacturers of everything from intake kits to superchargers to shifters, to you name it.
Now if you wanted a Honda modified, we would not be the people to go to, as we don't do imports (nothing against them, we just don't do them) - but in the Ford performance market, we are very well known and highly regarded.
It wasn't too long ago that there just weren't many performance parts available for the F-150 - over the years, we have had to fight tooth & nail to get manufacturers to put out all kinds of products, many of which we have had some kind of hand in, either actually helping in their design or at a minimum, testing them thoroughly, to get the kinds of parts that are needed to get performance from these vehicles in various areas - and we continue to do that, we are always working on something new around here at Troyer Performance for these vehicles.
Anyway, doing this for so many years has gotten us to a point where we can literally take the performance level of the F-150 as far as the vehicle owner wants to go, from mild to wild - including 10 second drag strip monsters, the normal daily drivers and everything in between.
Most people here tend to be the more typical truck owner - by that I mean daily drivers that are also occasional tow vehicles, with some drag racers & off-roaders thrown in, too - so they need to maintain normal reliability & durability, but get better performance from these heavy trucks, and that is precisely what we do, day in and day out. We focus on getting you the best bang for the buck, so that you get your performance to the level you require or that makes you happy by using the best parts, and our goal is always to have our customer's vehicles out run the others at a given level of modification.
By the way - you can easily see our custom tuning on our web site - all you need to do is to go into the section that is called "Superchips Custom Tuning," and select teh link that says "List by vehicle type" - and then on teh next page, click on "FoMoCo" vehicles, and that will take you to where you need to go, that is where we have Ford tuning products listed - and I have to confess that overall, our web site lists only about 2% of what we do & what we carry, we are constantly adding things and our time really does not get spent on our web site (which we do all in house ourselves, which is why it's always behind!
), our time has to be spent on working on or customer's vehicles due to the volume of work we do. Anyway, simply go into that section and and scroll thru there - you will see the off the shelf tuning products, as well as what will get you the best results, which are our custom tuned products - our custom tuned products are things like the XCalibrator 2 and the LiveWire, those would be the two different custom tuning products that would be applicable for your truck. You can see the XCalibrator 2 is listed under our Part number 9400, and the LiveWire is listed under Part number 9600 in that section - it's easy to find, all you need to do is spent a little time reading there. The custom tuning stuff is generally on the second "page" of that Ford section (depending on your monitor size & screen resolution).
Anyway, that is a bit about what we do - please feel free to give us a call to go over what we can do for you & your vehicle to take it to where you want it to be, & thanks for your post!

Hi cdance,
No, you do not have to "hardwire" the LiveWire into your vehicle, not at all.
The LiveWire has additional features like the ability to monitor numerous parameters on screen, mount it to the dash or to the windshield, it has a built-in 0-60 & 1/4 mile timer, and so much more - basically it's a feature-packed tuner that a lot of people are buying from us right now due to it's many features - you can read about it over on our web site under our Part number 9600.
If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call, OK? Thanks!
