Xcal 2 Question

I got the Xcal and before I install, I have a question. Does the Xcal download my stock tune? How easy is it to return to stock factory settings?

Thanks, SSC

The Xcal-2 will save your stock tune before it loads the custom tune. There is an option then to go back to your stock tune.

The answer is "YES" and very easy.
I went from "Performance Tune" this morning to "Tow Tune" for abut 6 hours and just finished reinstalling the "Perfromance Tune". Going to "Stock Tune" is just as easy - 5 - 10 minutes. On Friday the 4th I went from "93 Performance" to "Stock Tune" and back again when I took the beast to the dealership for 30K transmission service

Is there anyway to have a friend use his tuner on my truck. And just load a performance tune into my truck and just leave it? And if not is there anyway to use a tuner just to calibrate for larger tire sizes?

Hi WillCastner,

Marc's answer was, as usual, right on the money.

To expand on that just a bit, a tuner can only be used on one vehicle at a time - it can only be used on a different vehicle if the first vehicle is taken back to stock first - and that can only be done with off-the-shelf tuners.

Now if you go with our custom tuning, then you can switch between vehicles, but you have to have different set of custom tunes made for that other vehicle - and once again, it can be used only on one vehicle at a time.

See, you must be able to save the stock tune for each vehicle, and there is only room for one stock image file - so it can only be used on one vehicle at a time.

Now for those who do not want any tuning at all, but only want to be able to do a speedometer calibration for a change in gear ratio and/or tire size, there is the new Superchips "Tirepaq" unit, that allows you to just change the speedometer alone, and it can also be upgraded later on for a small fee so that it can also tune the vehicle - if you would like to go over those options, please feel free to give us a call here at our number listed below.

Good luck!
