Edge and CAI question
Edge and CAI question
My buddy has a 2002 FX4 w/ the 2V 5.4L......he just ordered the EDGE and wants the AF1 intake...I know on the 04+ the 3.5" there is a LEAN problem with this....is this the case for the 2V's????

It doesn't matter what size tube you get on the 2 valve motors, before 04. The MAF is suspended in its own Venturi tube, it doesn't have to deal with that stupid transfer function the newer ones do. So, no lean conditions as long as the MAF is clean. The Edge is fine for his application(Do a search on Transfer function, and running lean, and needing a tune, there was one recently in the intake/exhaust section that I posted in asking a question, look for posts by MGDfan, his answers are very valuable knowledge).
For all of you pre 04 guys worried about running lean, keep your MAF clean and it won't happen, I have hooked my truck up to a Solus (snap-on) industry scanner, the truck has 68,000 on it, 15,000 on my K&N 77 series, 8,000 on my Edge, and without being cleaned once (I know I need to do it), the voltage from the MAF was normal, and the ECU read it running under normal conditions spec.d by Ford.
All you need to do to clean the MAF is buy a can of CRC MAF cleaner and spray, directly on it, you don't even need to disassemble the intake to do it.
