Mason Im not sure whats up with your tuner, I went to the superchip sight, and all I found is for 97-2003, 2000-2003..Does it not have the DTC code reader... , Ive heard good things about the edge and especially the xcal...

It has the code reader, just only tuned or not tuned - no choice of octane, performance, towing. Ya the xcal has got to be (by what I've read) the best tuner, unless you've just gotta have the guages of the edge. If you go to the superchips site, you're not going to see the single tune 1715 for sale because they either updated them all or sold them all.

HI Masonball,

I'm sorry to hear you are having a problem with that older 1715 unit.

But that can happen on some truck strategies, unfortunately - it's rare, but can happen.

See, that unit you have only has ONE tune, and it's designed for premium gas only, and is towing-compatible. You could send it back to Superchips and have it upgraded to the newer 3-tune style, it's a firmware upgrade.

However, what would actually be the best bet, IMHO, would be to simply call us and have us do a custom tune setup for you and we will take care of that issue, as well as get you much larger power gains than you get with any off the shelf tuning device, and a far more thorough tune with much better driveability. That is where your money would be best spent, in my opinion.

Most trucks work fine with that older original 1715 unit you have, but there are some whose strategies are different enough that you can run into issues like that - that's the F-150 for you, it is literally the hardest vehicle platform to tune, as it has hundreds of different PCM strategies each and every model year alone - so those who do not eat, sleep & breathe these F-150's really cannot get the kind of results that we do, as we have specialized in them for over 15 years, and have custom tuned thousands of them, literally - nobody knows their various strategies better than we do. An average model year on the F-0150 has 250 different revisions for the PCM, for example, and it takes years of work on numerous examples of the exact same strategy to really get good at them and give the vehicle owner the kind of result that is possible with the best tuning.

I hope that brief info helps a bit, & please let us know if we can be of assistance to you with your trucks' tuning, we'll be happy to help - at least that way, you would have 3 different tunes and each of them set up exactly how you want for your needs & the way you use your vehicle, etc.

Thanks for your post & best of luck with your truck!
