Two Edges Evolutions?

I'm sorry for making an entire thread for this but I asked this question in another thread awhile back but recieved no answer. I was wondering what the difference between the Edge Evolution that everyone here seems to have and the Edge Evolution that looks like a big Gameboy. They are both called Evolution, both fit the same trucks and both seem to have the same capabiliies and features.

Common controller:

Bigger Gameboy-looking one:

Is there a difference or is it just two different controller choices?

Thanks.

One is a programmer that is also a monitor....the other is just a programmer. They used to make the one that is just a programmer for the older models, but they also offer the monitor for those vehicles now too. I don't know if anyone even bothers with those older programmers anymore.

The old one only boasts a 12 HP gain while the new one is up to 35.

Actually no, the new one advertises 35hp gains, and the old one says 12% hp gains. I have the new edge. The main reason I bought it over any other programmer was the on board monitor. I was between the edge and Troyer, but I went with the edge. Personally from what I hear, I think Troyer's tunes are much better than the edge. It would be nice if Troyer came out with one of their programmers that mounted like the edge and had a cool looking real time monitor... They'd have the edge beat hands down in basically all categories.

Anyways, I wouldn't waste your money on the old edge, you get alot more for the price difference with the new edge. Thats just my $0.02, take it as you will.

Hi.

They do: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...talogno=9600-T

... except for the mounting arrangement, which I understand is in the works ...

Thumbs up

Wow, thanks for the link man... that looks awesome. A bit out of my price range at the moment (Tho I would say pretty fair for all the features!), but I'm definitely going to have to consider getting one... I've heard alot of good things about Troyer.
The only thing is I don't know if it will be compatible with my truck, as I have a 1997 (4.6L) F150... Under the listing of Support F-Series Trucks, I only see the 2004-2007 4.6L F-Series, nothing for the 1997-2003 F-Series.

According to the title of the link I sent you it says 1996 & newer... it's the 'canned' tunes that come shipped form SCT that have that restriction currently. The custom tunes ( preferred anyway) will work as noted.

Maybe call 'em to confirm - they are real easy to talk to !

Cheers
Bubba
