Question Other Programmers

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any other tuner than the edge? Is the Edge the best? I saw that bullydog has a programmer that does basically the same thing as the edge, without the pod however. I have a buddy with a Powerstroke and he has aq bullydog, and it really made a difference in it. What do you guys think?

I currently run the Diablo tuner I'm really satisfied with it you could really tell the difference in performance from stock to tuned. My buddy had the Superchips Flashpaq and that one did really good on his truck also it would be hard to compare mine and his cause I havent been in his truck for a while but I know it did help. I've heard alot of good things about the edge so it has to be really good i haven't switched because I dont like the gauges to much and it seems like there is always a different problem with it, it might be the people using it but I dont want to risk it. Bullydog I heard is made for diesels so thats why it made a HUGE difference in your buddies truck its impossible to compare the diesels tuners to gas tuners. It is hard deciding which to go with but just take time to decide.

I know that bullydog makes diesel tuners, but they have one for our truck as well. That is what I was saying.

There are 'canned' tuners, and then there are custom tuners... Bullydog, Edge, Superchips, Diablo are all basically 'canned' tuners. They're tuned for the masses of people, based on what they think will appease the majority of people. They do have some limited user-end adjustability though. So you can give them your own twist on their otherwise canned tune...

Then there are fully custom tunes. You'll hear alot about the Xcalibrator 2 (Xcal2) from SCT. Yes you can get it with 'canned' tunes, but more importantly you can get a tuner to give you custom tunes that you can use the Xcal2 to upload them to your vehicle. If you go this route, your tuner can tune your truck to your exact desires (assuming it's safe for your vehicle). A very popular tuner is Troyer Performance. His tunes squeeze every ounce of power out of YOUR specific truck's PCM. Another good tuner is Bamachips. While Bamachips doesn't necessarily match Troyer for power, IMO Bamachips is head & shoulders above Troyer in terms of everyday driveability.

So far, I've had a Superchips microtuner, Edge, Xcal2 with tunes from Troyer & Bamachips... As of now, my nod goes to Bamachips for driveability... I do however use Troyer's towing tune when towing my travel trailer (again, for every ounce of power possible).
