hypertech or edge programmer?

I have an '04 f-150 lariat 4wd. I had a hypertech on my last truck but it wasn't AMAZING... i've seen a lifted fx4 with 35's and an edge smoke a tuned up 2wd chevy. i want one but i've heard that the edge will mess your engine up. is there any truth to this?

Not unless you do something dumb in your settings. mine is trouble free, 12,000 miles

As with almost every tuner, if you just keep the settings stock and not mess with them then it shouldn't mess anything up. Once you start customizing your setting and something goes wrong then its User error, and in MANY cases where there is a problem w/ a tuner it is USER ERROR. Good luck and b/w the two EDGE has my vote, it wakes these pigs up.

i have a hypertech 3 on my 2001 5.4 and I am gonna get a dyno tune using a diablo tuner the hypertech isn't that good but it is a decent entry level tuner that is idiot proof, kinda like the powerdyne supercharger.

take it from someone who has had both, the EDGE will do you alot more good than bad. I liked my hypertech but the power gains in these "pigs" as a previous poster put it wasn't at all noticable by the SOP method. Now that I have an edge, all I can say is if you ride with me HOLD ON

Another vote for the Edge. A Vast majority (probably 95+%) of the problems come from USER ERROR. If you read your manual and call Edge if you think/know something isn't right - instead of trying to fix it yourself - they can get you hooked back up and running in a few minutes. I've unplugged my Edge during all possible scenarios and have never had a lick of problems.

Definitly the Edge. Love mine a lot, made a big diference. To me the only 2 tuners are Edge and Troyer.
