I got my edge yesterday as well. My unit was also at E3 20 23 ,date of manufacturing 12/20/06. I went to update it and I noticed that When I looked it up in the lighting software, It said that 23 was (unstable). I guess its an update for the 07 models. So i dropped down to 21. Should I have stayed at 23? Also, I plan on loading a program later today when I fill up. Any suggestions on what level I should start with? I won't be towing anything in the near future.

If I were putting a unit manufactured 12/06 on an 05 truck, I would not update. The unit should have everything that pertains to your truck. My Edge works great and has not been updated since July, 06.

I just got "edged" yesterday also....I mine is a 20.23 and i just installed it. I have in level 2 right now and its a nice change over stock, plus the gauges are cool. Tomorrow i am going to load up on some 91 octane and throw the 'ol edge into level 3. Cant wait for that.

I'd try it and see what happens. Just remember to follow the instructions. I updated today to 20/23 to see if it will cure my level 3 shudder issue I have. I was running level 10/21. I have the same year truck and hex code as Bluejay432000, but his firmware and calibration setup won't work for mine for some reason, but my edge is 6 months newer. I like being able to update online when needed.

Just because you have an 05 truck and you bought your edge in 06 or 07 doesn't mean you shouldn't update it. I update mine whenever there is a firm update without a problem, in fact it has helped the tranny shudder during level 3. I try to stay away from the Beta updates until they are proven.
Its kinda like your computer, it needs the updates from time to time, unless you like Windows 95.

I got mine today also. It was also made on 12/20/06 LOL I have an 05 FX4 and all levels work perfectly!!! Level 3 is def. addicting. I filled up today with 93 octane and adjusted my timing to +1 and WOT shift firmness to 6 and WOT Fuel to 1.65 and it hauls a lot more *** than level 2. The performance test are addicting to. 0-60 in 7.1 woohoo LOL not bad for a 7000lb truck with only a tune and exhaust I think.
