How do I Increase MPG

Whats the best mod for my f150 to get better gas millage. I plan on getting an air intake, and i am thinking about a programmer. What do you suggest is the best for the money? I seem to be only getting 15mpg.

With this being your first post, I would look at all the threads about the same question.
In short, you are doing about what the truck is capabile of doing on a normal basis.
Spending $200 or more on an air intake won't do much of anything, nor will an exhaust change.
If racing is the thing then these may result small gains at hi rpm but that is not where the fuel mileage is.
One way to get better fuel mileage is an educated throttle foot.
It takes a monitor to look at and keep the foot as light, as much of the time, as possible. We all tend to use to much throttle when not needed.
One way to do this is with an EDGE tuner using the monitor functions and you don't have to reprogram the PCM to do this. This even cost some bucks unless you find one pre-owned.
Sorry, getting fuel mileage from a 5000 lb plus truck is not an exersise in small car fuel mileage.
Good luck.

If your looking to just increase your gas mileage it isn't worth it to spend money on anything other than an intake. The costs of the improvements are more than you would save on gasoline alone unless you put around 25,000 miles per year on your truck for maybe a 1 mpg increase. Spend some time and do some math and figure out what it would do for you. The intake is a really good bang for the buck item and you save in maintenance costs since you don't have to replace the filter, but anything other than that just isn't really a cost effective way of improving fuel economy.
