resetting computer question

Im just curious of resetting the computer will delete the xcal tune that was uploaded to the ecm? i had a chip on my old truck and was never worried for some reason. But lately the computer has been reset numerous times due to the battery and starter dying on me in september, then the starter wire fell off and it was reset then, had my exhaust done a few weeks ago, reset again. This week my alternator died, and you guessed it, computer reset. How can i make sure the high performance tune is still there?

resetting tune

You will be fine as long as your pcm is not reflashed. Unplugging the battery does not remove your tune.

HI 97,

You don't have to worry about that, the program cannot be gotten rid of by simply disconnecting the battery - all that does is to clear out the previous adaptive strategy adjustments stored in KAM - but it does NOT get rid of your performance tuning no matter how many times you do that.

Put it this way - if that would cause your performance tuning to be lost, the same thing would happen to your STOCK tuning, too - it would be lost any time you disconnected the battery and the truck would not start - in short, this is not a problem, so don't worry.
