Edge shifting

My F150 is my daily driver for my wife, and we have had the edge on for almost a year now, don't really care for how high it revs up before it shifts w/the stock programming. It is on level 2 as we don't run premium fuel in it, just wondering if you guys have customized the shifting points/firmness and if so what seems to be working the best for daily driving conditions. This is not a race truck, it is a daily driver that i just want to shift "fairly normal". Thanks for any input.

Have you updated your edge lately. I got my Edge just after I bought my truck in May '06 and updated it then. I didn't touch it after that. I just updated it again yesterday hoping that Edge had dome something to fix the Average Miles Per Gallon feature. THey had done something to fix that, and the shifting seems a lot smoother than it used to be. It might be worth a try.

I say just play around with the shift points. We can't tell you where the best settings for your driving style/tastes are.

I just run mine on Level 2 with no custom options. Works good for me.

Just wondering what your talking about when you refered to "the AMPG feature". Is there a problem with it?

There are 2 mileage displays available on the EDGE Evo, Average Miles Per Gallon and Instantaneous Miles Per Gallon. The AMPG display was wildly inaccurate when it was first implemented in the first couple of early releases but EDGE tweaked it and got it fixed in the later releases. Now it is very close to my calculated MPG that I do when I fill up the truck. You should update your EDGE to get the latest fixes and features.

I turned all my standard shift points as low as possible, and when i'm not flooring it down onramps it seems to have increased my mileage a little bit.

Thanks for all your input, it is hard for me to fine tune the thing, as i never drive it (wife's truck) unless we go out of town somewhere (only time i drive it). I will try the new updates, as i bought it as they first came out (was on the original waiting list when they were still developing it), and have not done anything to it since. Their definately could be some improvements since then. When you go to customize the way it shifts what exactly does the 12, 23, 34pt (or whatever the actual numbers are) mean? It doesn't really say anything about this in the manual. Thanks again for your input.

12 is the 1-2 upshift, 23 is the 2-3 upshift, and 34 is the 3-4 upshift point.
