AFI intake

I want to get an intake, and everyone seems to say go with the AFI, but there are a couple different sizes, and im not sure which one I should get. i want an xcal real bad, but i dont have the funds to datalog, and all the other stuff involved in getting a tuner. So i might get one later on down the road, would I need to change my intake then?

call troyer. but being as your truck is an 04 it might need to be programmed for a lean condition. i believe it is hit or miss on that to. some 04's take it and some dont. as for the xcal. if you can afford the tuner then go with it. i have had mine for about a year and have never datalogged it and she runs great. i am going to either go to a dyno in san anton io or just wait to go to a troyer dyno day.

you can datalog w/o the dyno -the info is then emailed via the tuner through your pc-honestly- a tuner is the first mod anyone should do- even if thats the only mod you ever do-like mentioned- some 04's are lean from the get go- most 3.0 tubes do not need custom tuning- the 3.25s usually always do and the 3.5 ones definetley do-but most power are made with the 3.5" ers-i'd hold off till you saved the funds and got the af1-xcal combo from troyer- you get a discount for buying them both and being a f150 online member-i've run troyer tunes in my last 2 vehicles -nearly 70k miles WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS-call troyer for more info and tell himphil-openclasspro sent ya-phil

I have the funds for the intake and tuner, but dont want to have to dyno, and/or datalog. Dont really have time to mess with that stuff. Just want to load and go.

that is what i was saying. you dont have to do the dyno to get the tunes. just order the intake and tune combo. it should run great. the dyno is to get it nailed down perfect. i am running both without a dyno and they work fine.

On an 04 I wouldn't do any intake without checking the A/F ratios on a dyno. The 04s were notoriously lean even with the stock intake. As far as a tuner goes, just get an EDGE Evolution. You don't have to datalog or dyno, and you don't have to get new tunes whenever you decide to bolt on additional mods. If your truck gets flashed by the dealership your EDGE will still work as long as you returned to stock before the reflash. No problems from my EDGE on my 04 SCAB or the 06 SCREW I have now.

you dont have to get updates with the troyer tune when you do more mods either. mine is an 04. troyer knows what to do with the af1 and xcal2 to take care of the lean condition. no matter what anyone says you do not have to dyno anything before you get the tune to have an xcal2 and intake. it is only to get it spot on perfect. and the edge evolution is not spot on perfect either.

How can I get in touch with this tuner? I have a Superchips tuner that has not given me the results I have been looking for - was thinking about the Procharger (I tow a racecar trailer and struggle miserably), but I have been told there are on going issues with the 3v unit. I would love some suggestions -
