Angry Edge problem *strange*

I have had no trouble with my edge for the last 6 months. A couple weeks ago we had a bad cold snap and I had left a radio on my battery was drained completely. I jump started the motor and went on about my way. The evo seemed to be running fine. Today I noticed that it was set to 0 and I normally run it on 2 so I set it to reprogram it. It wrote to pcm and all that and everything seemed as normal.

Then....I turned the key. All of the electrics in the truck are running. But the engine won't even try to turn over. When I turn on the key the evo says it can't find the splash screen. I brought it inside to hook it to the computer and it's saying that it's probably stuck in run mode or the memory is corrupted. As soon as the edge guys get back from lunch I'm going to try to talk to someone. Hope they can help.

that sucks. Wish I knew how to fix it. But I've unplugged my battery numerous times with no ill effect from the Evolution.

Spent a couple hours on the phone with Edge. We reprogramed the edge and eventally set the edge up to write a stock program to the truck. The truck's computer would not take the stock set up from the edge. They agreed to send me a new edge. I then towed the truck to the Ford house but by the time I got it there it was quitting time for the mechanics. They're going to look at it tomorrow. They said that it'll be done by noon if all it needs is a reflash.
The wierd thing was the lights. It wasn't doing this untill I pulled it the 20 miles to the ford house but I pulled it into the shop, pulled out the key and the headlights were still on. I thought it was the auto-lights so I turned them off at the switch. They didn't go off. They were in a hurry to go home so they just disconnected the battery. I hope that's not hinting at a bigger problem.

I've seen people on here having to reflash their truck because of the edge here on the boards. Has anyone had anything more major that had to be repaired because of the edge?

Dealer reflashed the pcm and everything is working fine for $137.00. Getting the "pass the buck" at edge about a reimbursment for the flash cost. So $300 for the programer and $137 every 6 months. That makes this thing awfully expensive.

Now the decision is when I get the new one...ebay or install

i don't blame edge. I wouldn't pay either since it was operator error. I know hindsight is 20/20. But you knew that it was set to either level 2 or 3. When it showed it was set to level 0 even though the stock tune wasn't in there, if you would have called Edge they could have probably fixed it right then and there.

In the manual it states "If you have used another tuner/programmer on your truck, you will need to program your truck back to stock before using the Evolution.
Failure to return to stock may result in PCM failure or engine damage." Basically you did just that. Somehow the Edge was tricked into thinking that what you had loaded was a stock tune.

The battery dying is probably what caused the problem. The same may have happened with any tuner. I'd give your new Edge another shot.

Yeah the light thing turned out to be a non-issue. I'm not sure I'm going to program it. But I think I'm going to install it for the guages. I've gotten so spoiled by them. Not to mention :"in my humble oppinion" it's the only guage pod that doesn't look like a total P.O.S.

I agree with ya on the looks of the Edge Pod. Looks 98% OEM when installed properly.

Was your truck still under warranty? And if it was they didn't say anything about re-flashing the computer etc?

Gosh... Some of the members on here sure have a tough time with this EDGE programmer. My battery has gone dead before and that never re-wrote my PCM. I have removed the EDGE programmer numerous times to check for updates and never had a problem. This device writes and stores your PCM code. I just do not understand why it is being blamed for all the operator error problems. I've had mine for almost a year... NO problems. I am amazed by the fact that some users explain the problem they think the EDGE programmer has caused, and IF they took the time to read what they are describing they would answer they own question. The EDGE device is a excellent programmer.

X2. I have had mine since they were first released and haven't had any problem out of it on my 04 SCAB or on my 06 SCREW. The EDGE does seem to be sensitive to having the key turned on when it is plugged in after being unplugged. If this instruction is not followed, that seems to be when bad things happen. Also if the battery dies or needs a jump, I will unhook my EDGE until everything is back to normal.
