Question Recording data stream in Edge

Has anyone tried to record their data stream and then view it with the Lightning software? I've tried recording, but the screen on my evo freezes. I then have disconnect, then reconnect to unfreeze. Anyone else with this problem?

I have done it many times, displayed the graghs, adjusted to magnify the traces and printed them out.

I have the same problem as you gatorade, I disconnect my Edge often and use remote start all the time. I not sure, but I heard once in these posts that if you don't start the Edge as per instructions, custom options don't work properly. Do you think my security system habits are the cause of this bluegrass?

Well, I usually dont disconnect it and my other custom options have all worked aside from changing the tire size and gear ratio as 97-98s dont have that option, but just not my data stream. I get to the point where it says that the selected PIDs are recording and at the bottom is a bar that says Preparing....0%, and there it just freezes.

I'm not an expert on this device but do see it can get out of sysnc at times if it is removed and put back on at times.
Presently I have been running it full time and it comes on with startup and goes off when ignition is shut down.
I can access all the functions following the proper sequence on the buttons.
I would try to refresh it from their website to see if it helps.

I have used this function many times looking for indications of a skipping problem. It showed but was not of great help in directly solving the issue.
After some very extended work I think I have my running issue solved.
I chased the ignition for quite some time and made improvements but a skip was still present at times so went in another direction on an educated guess and so far the problem has not come back.

Well guys, I've played around and tested the data stream option a few times and this is what I discovered: You cant choose PIDs to record that are not available as PIDs to monitor. For example, given my year, a '97, I dont have the option to view or change my gear ratio & tire size or monitor my tranny temp, so I cant choose those to record. (Duh, makes sense ) I can monitor my mph, rpm, ect, iat, & engine load, so I chose those to record, and lo & behold...it worked. I tried some other PIDs that I can monitor and those worked as well. If even one of the five PIDs you choose is not available for your vehicle, then the data stream will not work and your screen will freeze. Well, hope this helps to those who care.
