Need Opinion On The Right Programmer
2006 Fx4 Programmer Edge Evo. Need Opinions Before I Buy
This site is the best!! I really appreciate all the feed back I recieved on my last question. I am going to purchase a new programmer after being very disapointed with the Hypertech unit. Am looking at the Edge Evolution, However I have read some threads on here that dont sound so promising. Are there any programmers thatanyone out there is using that are all that they are chalked up to be? I am primarily looking to increase performance and towing on occasion. I have 2006 FX4 supercab, Roush dual exhaust kit, K&N High flow 77 series intake, jason industries workforce cap. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

The programmer you buy means nothing. It is the quality of the program itself that really matters.
Do yourself a favor and get the Xcalibrator from Troyer Performance. The Xcalibrator is just the machine that loads up the tunes designed specifically for your truck by Troyer Performance.
You will not be disappointed with the Troyer tunes. I wasn't.

I cannot personally speak for the Xcal, but have heard great things about it. I had purchased my Edge prior to joining this forum and have had no problems with it. I think for the most part with the Edge and any problems with it, is user error.
Just my .02...
I think you would be fine with either the Xcal or the Edge. Seems like everyone here that has a tuner has one or the other.

I am in the same situation as PLATNUMSAL. I am also very disappointed with my Hypertech unit and I am also looking at the Edge Evo. I have read some issues concerning customer service with Troyer's. It seems to be just a few isolated incidents though. I am just trying to be more cautious before I buy another tuner. This site is great by the way. I wish I would have found it before I bought the Hypertech.
Hello PLATINUMSAL,
Actually, what will get the best results, by far, is our Troyer Performance custom tuning - and speaking of customer service, we have a 98% customer satisfaction rate that we have maintained for well over a decade - the envy of most companies in this industry.
We have specialized in the performance modification & tuning of these vehicles for far longer than anyone else in the world, literally - over 15 years now, and we are routinely called in for assistance by many different manufactures - other tuning companies, shifter manufacturers, transmission parts manufacturers, intake manufacturers, and the list goes on and on - our reputation is extremely well known in these vehicles.
We gain more safe & sustainable power, and provide better improvements to overall driveability, shift characteristics in the automatics, towing ability, you name it - because this is what we do, what we specialize in.
We also hold public Dyno Days to show people what other tuning products do versus what our products do, and people are amazed at the actual differences - many who buy products like the Edge (which we also carry) end up either putting them up on a shelf, selling them, or just using them for the gauges once they get a taste of our tuning - a quick read of the boards here will show you how many people are using our tuning and are delighted with it.
We provide you with a set of 3 different custom tunes set up for however you use your vehicle, and your personal preferences, so that you are not stuck with some off the shelf "canned" unit and so that you have not only the best performance gains, but also the best flexibility and overall driveability.
We carry the typical off the shelf products as well - Edge, Superchips, etc., but the fact is, we sell 400-500 of *our* tunes for every 1 of the other products, as people by far prefer our tuning once they have had a chance to experience it.
I hope this brief info helps, & please feel free to give us a call to go over all the details, we'll be happy to help you, & best of luck whatever you decide!

I just wanted to drop by to thank toddyman for pointing out the reality regarding our customer service, which IndianaFord commented on.
What toddyman says is indeed accurate - our customer service is, if I do say so myself, excellent. We have extremely few problems, and our customer satisfaction rate is 98%+ and has been for many years - something that almost nobody else in this industry has ever achieved.
Now it is also true that this means that there are about 2% who are *not* satisfied - and you know what? While we will always strive for 100%, that will never happen - there are always some people who simply cannot be satisfied, or who have an agenda, etc.
We take customer service issues personally, and any time there is a problem we have caused, which, once again, is extremely rare, we bend over backwards to correct it, as we want people to be treated just as we want to be treated when we spend out money - that is our guiding principle here at Troyer Performance.
I'll put it this way - we do not have any customers who are not happy with us who are reasonable. I think that is the most accurate & point-blank way to put it.
For anyone who has spent any real time reading these boards, you do not see any pattern of people unhappy with what we provide or how we provide it - we are right here with our necks on the chopping block virtually every day, and as toddyman said, for every one person who claims to be unhappy about something, not only does that get corrected, but you will also find literally *hundreds* who rave about us - and that is possible only via a lot of hard work by a very talented and devoted crew - we are very lucky to have the kind of staff we have.
In fact, we just put on yet another full time technician so has been thru several years of NASCAR training & experience, is ASE & Ford certified in many areas, etc., as most of our techs are We are continually expanding our staff just as quickly as we can find people who we feel are qualified and will represent us properly, who have the intelligence & true caring we insist that everyone on our staff must have, as we want everyone to be happy with us - we take people's happiness with us personally - always have, & always will.

Hey, Thanks FX4 Matt. I also bought a Magnaflow cat-back SIDO from Troyer and installed it the night it came. I'm sure you've seen my posts regarding a minor issue or two with it, but I absolutely love the sound and even the minor performance/mileage gains. I have been driving diesels for many years, but wanted a change and was finding it hard to justify the $6000 adder to my boss. I was hoping this new 2007 Supercrew with a few tweaks would satisfy my urges, and put out my diesel fires, while helping me pull my trailers on the weekends. So far, and maybe it's the spacing of the few mods i've done so far, I absolutely love my F-150. It's funny how the rumble makes me feel like I'm in a new truck all over again. I can only imagine what the XcalII will do to me. Even if it's not a Mustang, it certainly will get out of the hole a heck of a lot faster than my last two 6.0L Strokes. Their turbo lag couldn't get me out of the hole for anything. Now, my Supercrew, it gets more fun to drive each day. Thanks for the support!
