chip/tune
chip/tune
Hey guys.....I have a 2000 F-150 ext. cab XLT. I have a used lightning engine and tranny dropout that i am about to put in it...I have looked around a little, but i was hoping someone has had some experience with chipping and tuning their lightning engine for more hp. If so, what would you recommend? It will mainly be a daily driver....i will run it at the 1/8 a couple times..maybe. But if you have any info on a chip/tuning or anything else combp...let me know what you think would be better for street power upgrades.....Oh yea...i will be putting headers on it along with some high flow magnaflows!:santa:

Hi Wolf302,
We are who "Built54" very kindly mentioned in his post - just give us a call at our number listed below & we can take care of this for you.
We have tuned many F-150's that have had Lightning or Harley supercharger setups installed on them, so this is something that is relatively common. Now in this case, I would not recommend installing a 6# lower pulley, that is a little bit too much boost on that higher-compression engine with those thin hypereutectic cast stock pistons - see, the Lightnings have forged pistons and a significantly lower compression ratio from the factory, so they can run more boost - but that's not a problem, we can advise you on all of that and tune it so that it will run correctly, etc., no problem.
Just give us a call and we'll be happy to help you with this, OK?
Thanks for your post, & good luck!
