Hey guys newbie here. I've traveled over from the Fordtruckworld site. This is a great site. I had an 02 screw lifted, regeared, mod'd but have moved on and found myself in an 06 scab lariat 5.4 3:73's. Drove it home added k&n intake, magaflow 3" catback and tuned it with the superchips running the superchips program. It pulls pretty good now so my question is seeing how the xcal seems to be the way to go, what difference in h.p. would I see by going with that instead of the current superchips program I'm running now. I also have seen a sign up for dyno day but I wasn't sure where it was and what I would have to do to get it tuned. I know I only have 3 mods but I'm sure to add more down the road so at this point I was hoping to tweak my truck just that much more if feasable. Thanks again--

Hope this helps.
Danoshere yeah your right. I guess I should of just got the TP tunes instead of spending the dollars on the Superchips in the first place...mannn but looks like we have pretty similar mods. Do you know when and where the dyno day is coming up ? Have you been before? Thanks
blacklariatfx4 hey I checked out your gallery expecting to see a black truck - what happened- haa. Nice rig anyway-- I had a screw before this but with a 6'' Fabtech and 35's and I noticed a night and day difference whe n I regeared with the 4:56's. Do you have any idea about dyno day ?

Hi bb17,
As Superchips oldest distributor, we know what's in their tunes *extremely* well - and I can tell you that our custom tunes out-power them by a good margin, and you will also have much better overall driveability and shift characteristics, etc. We provide a far more thorough tune that goes much more in-depth into the PCM compared to *any* "off the shelf" type of device.
See, the major chipmakers, while great companies, simply do not have the time to put anywhere near the amount of R&D that we do into this platform - they don't specialize, they are more concerned with getting hundreds, sometimes thousands of different applications on the market - not us, we are concerned with doing the *best* possible job, and put more time into these vehicles than anyone else. In fact, many of the major chipmakers come to us to ask us for help in developing their applications due to our well-known expertise in the Ford F-series.
There are some of the 2004 & up 5.4 3V F-150's for example where we have seen off-the-shelf units make 3 HP, while we made 3- HP on the exact same truck - but usually we make about double what they do in terms of the actual. improvement in performance, just as a rough average - sometimes it' a bit more, sometimes a bit less - but always more, and enough more to be well worth it.
It all gets down to one simple thing - do you want the best? If so, that is our custom tuning for these vehicles.
I hope that info helps, & please feel free to give us a call to go over any of this in more detail.

Someday perhaps, I'll make it to one. I am kind of in the same boat as you. I bought the K&N before I joined this forum. Had I been a member before I got it, I probably would have gone with the AF1 based upon the recommendations here. I want the ultimate performance, but, in this case, I can't justify tossing the K&N for the AF1 -- the performance increase isn't worth the cost (Note: this is the same argument I made above but different conclusion
)
