When did you get the XCAL2, and how long have you had your truck?

Just wondering cuz if you started using the xcal2 when the crappy winter fuels came out, that could lead to worse mpg. I mean, the timing is being advanced right...so if we get fuel with lower BTUs, mpg is gonna go down.

Well my friend saw a three legged troll with his **** on fire.......

In closed loop, there is NO way that the edge will fry an engine. In open loop, if you bump the timing up and DONT KNOW what you are doing, like tow 10,000 lbs, hell yeah, you can screw something up....... You could do that with ANY programmer.

I dont know of ANYONE stupid enough to take their destroyed engne into Ford with the Edge still hooked up. If they did, maybe that explains how they effed up their engine to begin with.....

Phil, we know where your loyalties lie, but to spread hearsay, conjecture crap like that is irresponsible. Isn't Edge still a site sponsor???

I swear, if I asked what flavor ice cream everybody liked, it would turn into an Edge-Xcal2 pissing contest.

This is with an 06 F150 XL 4.2ltr. Styleside longbed 4x2,auto,3.55 gears,33"tires,ARE tonnue cover 8,000 miles on odometer XcalII Troyer tunes

Well today I filled up the 2nd tankful with 93 oct.I was playing around alot with the first tankful WOT,feeling the shifts, feeling the downshifts, passing gear hell just playing around and I averaged 18.75mpg..I had her over 115 a couple of times but with those BFG's I don't know how hard to push the mph. so I slowed her down. When you get to the 93 performance tune you will flat out love it @ WOT.I'm going to try for better mpg. now that I got some of it out of my system.I hope to hit 21,22 mpg in the next couple of tankfuls but that might be hard,I have been watching the scangauge and it seems that it gets the best @65-70 mph cruising highway. When you get on it from a standstill you see 1.2,2.3,4.3,5.7,8.3 10.5 mpg till you featherout the pedal and start cruising.I'm happy with the overall results!!!

From what I've read you download to a 3.5 floppy(you supply it) and send it to them with your datalogg info on it.Then if any changes need be made they'll e-mail you the new tunes.

Since I flashed in the new tune, I know for a fact (no I haven't datalogged yet, don't shoot first) that I am spewing raw fuel out the back. But, at the same time, my MPG hasn't changed even though if you stand behind the Nav and then smoke a cigarette, you'd be a flaming inferno shortly thereafter

loyalty is earned first of all-
this friend has been a friend for the past 30 years of my life-
i actually met the owner of the the 1 f-150 with the pistons- he admits he had no buisiness in making adjustments when in fact he had no idea what he was doing other than- "it seemed to run alot better'
3rd-my dealer is mod friendly
i only speak the truth-fyi-btw-this was a repeat customer at the dealer and the engine was replaced under warranty-they know my van has a tuner and they are actually putting the ud pullies on for me-
honestly -unless you know what how you are affecting timing and fuel-i wouldn't make those adjustments-just out of curiosity-when you make timing adjustments- how do you know how many degrees of timing is being pulled at wot?-phil

Edge

My ride is a 2006 F150 5.4L Triton. K&N drop in filter,Mobil 1 5/20wt... Yokohama Geolanders 275 65 18, Gibson single exhaust. Installed the Edge and currently running on Tow. Only custom adjustment are for increase tire size. I'm getting 15.6 to 17.2 on my commute to work city and highway...The Edge really helps....No hot rodding. Before the edge 13.5 to 14.2 MPG.

Phil,
Your above points are well taken BUT when you come on and make a blanket statement that 2 engines blew up basically because of the edge, that is plain wrong! I firmly believe that comments like this is the reason behind some of the anti-mike backlash that is on this site! (which is highly unfortunate btw...) Now, if you came on and said two f150 engines blew up because people were monkeying with their edge settings and had no clue what they were doing, that would be accurate.
IF i cared about how much timing was pulled out a WOT, i would look at my edge dsiplay, i know it has VCT and i "think" it has total timing as well. Not sure though....
Btw, my name is Phil too

Red Wing, Sorry to hijack
I know Mike makes a fuel mileage tune. Give him a call, he should be able to help you out.
