Your best bet is to just take the defaults and drive it like that, as they are normally already pretty well optimized.

Generally speaking, for a non-towing *performance* type of tune in these trucks, based upon the camshaft profile (and thus where the power peaks) and the weak link in the powertrain (which is the torque converter), to get the quickest acceleration you want a 5400 rpm WOT 1-2, and about a 5300 rpm WOT 2-3. Now for the WOT (wide-open throttle) 3-4, that should never be more than maybe 4700 rpm, as by that point you are already flying well into triple-digit speeds, and you should never do full-throttle shifts up into Overdrive anyway.

And for the rev limiter, never go more than 5800 rpm - that will give you plenty of headroom so that you don't hit the rev limiter on a full-throttle upshift, if the programming is done correctly. And you aren't even going to hit the engine''s rev limiter unless you did something dumb and held it manually in a gear and just kept your foot on the floor until the engine started bouncing off the rev limiter.

The best way to get proper advice on this is to call Hypertech directly, but I hope this brief info helps!

Well, generally speaking, for a "towing" program you'd want your WOT (full-throttle) upshift points to be roughly about 200 rpm less than where you set them up for best acceleration in a pure "performance" type of tune.

Good luck!
