Edge Evolution Problem?? Will not load the program

Last night I decided to finally hook up the Edge Evolution tuner that I bought and load the Level 2 Program. I read the book first and then hooked it up and followed the onscreen directions. Works fine and I get to the point were it is loading the program and I figure it will take a few minutes so I walk away and come back maybe 5 mins later at it is only at 1% so I was like ok and waited another 5 minutes now its at 3%, waited another 5 minutes still at 3%. I go do something else and came back like an hour later, It was only at 5%. So I though it was frozen so I unhooked it so I could put the stock program in it so i can atleast drive my truck.

Once again I plug it in, says "Error in program will reload stock setting push ENT" So i push it and do the key off-> key on and it starts to load. 10 Minutes later it was still at 1%. So me and my dad go somewere and come back 3 hours later, come back and look its at 13% come back after another hour and it is still at 13%. So now it is midnight and I have blown 5 hours and my truck does run now. So I leave it hooked up over night and went back out this mourning(after it has been plugged in 8 hours. It said there was a "connection error, check to see if key is on and restart program" So I put the fuel pump fuse back in to see if it starts, nothing it just cranks. So I had to restart the reload stock tune again.

So far It has been plugged in 14 hours, didn't load the level 2 program, will not reload my stock and has made it so I can not even drive the truck.

Anyone have a problem like this? Possible fixes??? PLEASE HELP!!

What year is your truck? If you are trying to load into the 99, that won't work.

If you have the older version for the pre 04 model, sorry, can't help you.

Time to call EDGE.

Obviously, something is wrong.

It takes about 30 seconds to load the tune.

I'm confused about the fuel pump fuse. Why did you pull that out?

Anyway, call the Edge Tech Support and they will modify the tuner so your truck will start, and I'm sure will help you with the other problem as well.

I have the EEF2000 for 97 - 03 4.6L/5.4L Triton Gas Engine. I have a 99 F150 4.6L.

I know something is wrong, I have dealt with SCT XCal/Xcal 2 alot for the Mustangs/Focus/Truck and the Edge units for diesel(Where I workwe are a SCT and Edge Certified dealer). This is the first Edge Gas Programmer I have used.

The first step in the instruction book was to pull the fuel pump fuse so you can prevent a leaky injector from leaking fuel into the cylinder while programing. I have never done it before when using the SCT programmers but I wanted to follow the directions so I didnt run into any problems.

Unfortunetly Edge isnt open until Monday, so I have no vehicle this weekend

Ok....that's news too me.

Someone from Edge was on here the other day looking for ALPHA and BETA testers for a new Edge Evolution, designed for these 97-03 trucks. From the sounds of it, they had not been released to the public, yet.

How did you get one?

Did you sign up for the testing program?

no i did not sign up for the alpha/beta testing but i did read the post when I searched the forum about the edge programmers. But I think they are re-designing it to have the monitor more like the 04-06 f-150 evolution.
If you go on www.edgeproducts.com and click products -> ford and click the drop downbox and second from the bottom is 97-03 Triton Gas. It is part # EEF2000.

Unhappy Same Problem

I have the same truck year and model edge evolution. My truck too would not reload stock after I hade to unplug due to waiting forever. I called support and they sent me a stock writer to get my truck running again. Then The PATS keys did not work and had to tow truck to Ford Dealer shio and have truck keys reprogramed. I am going to call edge on monday also. The sent me another edge but that one did the same thing. I will keep you posted since I may be a little further than you but could you also keep me posted. I have the edge EEF2000 which is what you have I have also signed up for the BEta Test of their new product which comes out later this year.

They had a tuner for the older models before they came out with the one for the newer models. It does not have the monitor. I believe the alpha and beta testers are for a new model, one with a monitor.

Lightbulb power to unit

I was wondering if you have exactly 12 volts to the OBDII port. I know that my cigarette lighter works for power but not for the actual cigarette lighter. I am going to check the voltage today on pin 16 to see if I get an exact 12 volts. Since Edge is a computer maybe there is enough power to display and download but not enough to overide stock computer. I will let you know tonight what I find out. I will be calling edge today also. Let me kow what you find out to since we have the same truck and same exact problem.

Did you load back you stock program before you tried to update it? If so you need to call them you have to put your truck back to stock before you update the programmer.

I spoke to there Tech today, they are overnighting a new programmer and a stock program writer. They said to write it back to stock then start the truck. The he said I can put the LvL 2 tune into it. Then there is a prepaid tag to return the stock writer and the defective tuner back to them.

I also asked them about the PATS and he said it shouldnt be any problem. Then he check with someone else and he said the same thing.

There customer service was Great!!

I should get it tomorrow mourning and ill let you know if it fixes it.
