she is the one...
Ok, I am from Massachussetts. Any one from the area knows where the end of rt3 ends and merges with rt128. It is a nice flow from one rt to the other. Well coming to this merge I see one of those Dodge Copper colored RT's (with the wing) coming up on my rear. I watch him, we are going about 45 mph. We get to about the end of the merge to rt128 and I see he makes his move. He comes right at my rear end... Ok, lets rock. I drop out of overdrive and goose her. My truck down shifts and lunges forward like a banshee... I have to say that we get up to 115+ mph, in a heart beat. Even at that speed the truck was in total control. He never came close to over taking my rig. He was a truck length behind me when we started. I have to say he dropped as far back as 3/4 trucks lengths behind. He never, ever came close to passing me. Was he for real, was he not running? I doubt it... Although his exhaust note was way louder than our stock system. I do think thay have alot of growl with a some what softer bite. I have played with several different dodges and Chevys over the past while. The Dodge from all the hype about the Hemi's, is not impressing me. I have raced several on the highway, never to be over taken. The rt race was the most thrilling and satisfying for me. The guy never looked at me when we slowed in traffic. I am sure he saw the red TP sticker on my rear driver side window. For a work truck, as heavy as she is. She more then pulled her own against the rt, which is really a street truck, made to run... I had quite a smile next to him. I have had my buddies jaw drop when I took them for a ride. My buddies new chevy 4x4, feels way different, he was really impressed with my rig. The XCAL2 has made this truck feel the way it should have from the factory, better as a matter of fact... My screw, she is the one...
I'll second that, good kill story.
You guys crack me up -
Anyway, for a while now, ever since the Hemi's came out, we've had a fair number of reports here of tuned F-150's just blowing away the much-vaunted newer Hemi's - we did some testing of a 2WD Crew Cab Hemi (I think they call it a Crew Cab) against our own 2004 F-150 5.4 3V SuperCrew 4x4 Lariat, which is a 6200 lb pig, and the 2WD Hemi was .5 mph faster in the 1/8th mile when our truck was stock - but almost 4 mph slower in the 1/8th mile once we tuned our truck, which at the time was stock other than a tune.
So there have been a number of late-model F-150 owners that were able to kill Hemi's with nothing more than a tune, and some of those Hemi's weren't completely stock, either.
Anyway, congrats on a good kill there, 5.4 SCREW!
