Slow Throttle Response
Slow Throttle Response
By now everyone knows about the slow throttle response with the new Ford drive by wire system. From personal experience I know that it can be corrected with a change to the programming of the PCM. But I’m curious what is changed? Is there programming in the stock program that limits the rate at which the throttle will ramp open? Or is the response improved by changing how the transmission responds to the change in throttle position? Or is it PFM
It's highly proprietary information that is gained only thru painstaking R&D and much testing on many, many vehicles -
And no, as I think anyone can quickly figure out, of course we're not ever going to tell anyone exactly what we do to correct those problems - any more than Intel is going to tell AMD or any of their other competitors how to better mix silicone, maximize wafer yield, etc., for reasons that should be obvious.

Hi Mike
I understand, I got my tune from you before I put the supercharger on my 5.4L. I'm going to have you re-do the tune when I get a chance to put it on a dyno and get some data. However, i program control systems for power plants, and can't stand not knowing how a control lop works.
