it does put more strain on the powertrain to punch it at every chance you get, but hell, that doesnt keep me from puting my foot in it either! god i love that power! plus if anything does break, its a great excuse for an upgrade! you really have nothing to worry about though. go for it.
Look, this is very simple - you are going thru the same basic excitement of a new go-fast part that almost all of our customers go thru when they get more performance parts from us - they go out and find every opportunity at first to enjoy that new performance!
But that wears off after enough time, and they start thinking more about making their vehicle last as long as possible. It is also a matter of age - the youngest guys drive them like race cars more frequently, just like I did when I was in my 20's, for example. But then I never wondered why I broke parts, I *knew* why - so I used only the very best parts, and kept pounding on my vehicles - and if something broke, I upgraded it to the very best type of part made, and it usually never broke in the same area again. I did that to several cars - it probably wasn't smart, it was expensive once in a while, and it was definitely a lot of FUN!!!
Treat it humanely, meaning get on it once in a while and have some real fun, but the rest of the time treat it with some respect, and it will serve you for many, many years. Its' all up to you.
Just don't even think that it's "safe" to drive it as hard as it will go as often as you can - it's not "safe" to do that even on a bone-stock vehicle.

...I'm glad to find that we're all pretty much alike in that sense....On another note you're right about the age Mike..I'm 22 and I love driving my truck like a race car!!!!
I guess it's just a phase that we all go through until it wears off and I start to think with my pocket book with gas money rather than with my EGO...LOL!!!
Well said, Tigga - you sounds pretty much like me, and a lot of members here who enjoy improving the performance of their trucks.
I also think it's just human nature that when you're younger, you drive harder if you're the type that's into hot-roding. Lords knows I drove a number of my vehicles like race cars a lot of the time, and it's a miracle I survived some of the stunts I pulled!
I guess the way to best say it is like this: it's perfectly safe to take it out and let it rip once in a while, taking it full-throttle thru the first couple of gears. But doing that every day, or multiple times every day, would tend to shorten the lifespan of some components of the powertrain. You generally aren't going to hurt anything by getting on it once in a while - in fact, the truck will thank you for it - it's just a matter of not doing it all the time, to get the longest service life, that's all. When I was 22, I drove my vehicles harder than I do now, I think most people do, it's just human nature.
Have fun & be safe!
