Dataloging, Got'er Done!

It took a while, but I found someone to loan me a laptop that was capable of runing live link. I went down to a local shop that has a Dynojet and talked to the owner for about an hour. He seemed to know what he was talking about so I scheduled an appointment for saturday morning. His rate was $130/hour. He said it should be no problem to get the 5 pulls I wanted in one hour. Cool! We got started at 8:30 and we were done at 1:30. He only charged me for 1 hour, as we both were learning. It was his first F150 and my first datalog. Right up front he said take your time, i'm not going to gouge you on the price. Lets take it slow and have fun, and we sure did.
I took some pics but they came out too dark, sorry

Tip #1
when you start live link and pick your PIDs, just leave it running and click the start button for the first run, click stop, then leave it just like that. shut the truck off, disconnect the battery, drain the power, reconnect. go back to the laptop. start the truck and get ready for the next run. when you click start again, it asks you if you want to save the last log, click yes and give it a name,(like "93 perf 3rd gear Your Name") when you click save there will be a second delay then the next log will start. this way you do not have to find the PIDs again.

My A/F ratio was on the lean side from idle to redline 14 -16 so thes numbers should get better when Mike is done.

Best run 93 Performance 3rd gear (246.5 HP, 331.5 TQ)

93 performance 3rd gear #2 (246.3 HP, 331.1 TQ)
93 performance 2nd gear (246.2 HP, 324.6 TQ)
87 performance 3rd gear (240.1 HP, 313.5 TQ)
87 towing 3rd gear (242.7 HP, 303.2 TQ)

Tip #2
Read Mikes instructions a couple of times. be sure you understand them before you show up at the dyno shop. I was fortunate that the shop owner was a good guy and let me take my time. Even though I had read them I wanted to be sure everthing was the way Mike wants it.

I had a lot of fun. This shop caters to the ricers and Mustang crouds and I gathered quite a crowd and they were impressed with the silver beast. I just hope I got everthing the way Mike wants it. Im sending it to him on tuesday when I get back in town.

The money I spent to datalog is about 3 tanks of gas. Its not a huge expense. Heck it may even get me 5 - 10 more horses. We spend $100 for 5-10 horses all the time.
I would like to see everyone post thier results in this thread when they datalog. Goodluck :beers:

Thanks for sharing, let us know how she drives after you have your tune modified, Josh

This might actually show what mike can do if you get back to the dyno when he completes the re-tune, I'm sick of seeing numbers and excuses

Have you ever purchased a product from Troyer Performance?
Have you ever delt with them; Phone of in person?

What kind of #s do you expect to see? 300hp?
Get real. Its obvious that these trucks lose ALOT of power through the drive train. Being able to put down 250+hp is, in my opinion, good.

Why do you insist on putting down someone who devots most of their time to studying and tuning our trucks?
I dont see why Im writing this. I'm sure you won't respond.

Hey 05SilverFX4,

Isn't there a way to save the PID configuration? That way you just have to load the custom configuration when you start Live Link. Just repeating what I've read because I haven't actually had an opportunity to get my hands on a laptop and run Live Link. Still waiting on the "standalone datalogging" feature.

Where are your dyno sheets?

5 hours seems like a long time. I dont think my local Dyno is that understanding and they want $260 per hour. OUCH!!!!

It could be a bug, but I stayed up late friday night making the configuration files. I thought I was ahead of the curve. When I tried to open them they did not work, the config was there but it would not see the Xcal and I could not start collection. Maybe it was something I did wrong, I dont know. :beers:

I dont see a problem with those numbers, i just want to see after he goes back to the dyno with troyers re-tune. This will show what troyer can do, all i see is talk.

05SilverFX4, approximately how many frames per second did you record on your .csv files? I’m getting about one hundred per second and was just curious

What's your motivation? Are you interested in purchasing tuning from Mike? Do you just have nothing better to do than try to bash a supporting vendor that helps make this forum free for YOU to use?

I'm still waiting to see YOUR dyno numbers, showing how much YOUR tuning has gained YOU. Until then, all I see is talk from another young punk trying to act tough on the internet. :coffee:

To talk down to people. Probably at least half of his posts are negative or cutting down someone or ridiculing someone.

That's what I figure. I was just wanting to see if he would admit it. ;)

I'm sorry but that's pure BS. If you truly just wanted to see what he can do there are MUCH better ways of going about it. Call this "F150(troyer)online" like you do is NOT a good way to get someone to help you out. ;)
