Question Over Drive & XCAL2

Can anyone here with the XCAL 2 tell how thier truck responnse to throtle when in OD? With my 91 perf. tune if I come up on a slight grade and want to maintain 70 MPH I have to give it alot of throttle to the point where it drops out of OD before I get any kind of response. If I give it just moderate throttle there is no response from the engine and I still loose speed. It feels almost like the gas peddle is not connected to the drivetrain until I get to almost WOT. THis doesn't happen in the lower gears, the response is fine.

P.S. I have talked to Troyer and they want me to return to stock and ship my tuner back to check it out. I'm going to run through this tank of gas and ship it to them this weekend. It will be a drag to be back at stock tune while they have it but atleast I will be sure its OK and I will have the MACO 3.0 when I get it back.

I had the XCal and now I got the XCal2 and when I’m in OD just slight pedal gives me plenty of extra power to maintain speed without dropping down to third gear.

That is what i thought it should be like. I shipped it back today for Mike to check out. After going back to the stock tune I realized that not only was the power not there in OD but it was also not there off the line unless I really got on the gas, I could not just give light throttle when taking off. This became really apperent when back in the stock tune and it would instantly respond to light throttle off the line and in OD. It seemed like the 91 perf. only responded to WOT but I have to say when it did it really moved. I hope Mike gets it worked out. Guess it's back to the waiting game for me.

Did you do any data logging before the decision was made to send it back?

Was there that much difference between your XCAL and XCAL2 performance? I still have the XCal and wonder if its worth the upgrade.

The Xcal or Xcal2 are just devices to deliver the tune to your truck. As far as the difference, the Xcal2 has some extra features the Xcal doesn't have but the same tune can be put into either one.

Actually, there were a few aspects that were very noticeable from one to the other. The idle was better; it was a little lower and it didn’t rev up as high on startup. The shift characteristics were more proportionate to the amount of throttle and it flashed much stronger coming out of the hole. These differences were obvious and I’m guessing there was a lot more happening that was so subtle I couldn’t tell with my seat of the pants dyno. All in all, I’m extremely happy with the XCal2; it’s the bomb

I have the exact same situation with mine. I'm still working with them to fix mine. Hopefully we will get this worked out cause I am anxious to feel the power that everyone else is enjoying with theirs.

Did you also ship yours back to Troyer? If not what are they doing to try and fix it? They should have mine by Tues. Hopefuly they can get right on it. Mike said something about the truck might have been re-flashed on the lot before I bought it. I just hope that it is something that can be worked out.
