Computer Chip on Air Intake?

A friend of mine was telling me that he put a chip on his air intake. Is there really a way to do this? He said there is a cable near the intake that you put this chip on. Supposedly it keeps the airflow from being restricted. Is this true, and where can I get one?

Horse-hockey - somebody doesn't know what they are talking about.

Most like what this is *really* about is that stupid resistor that some idiots are selling to attach to the Inlet Air Temperature Sensor's harness that is used to "trick" the PCM into thinking it's colder outside than it really is, so that it will dump in more spark advance to make more power. That is a *very* stupid and dangerous thing to do, as that IAT spark modifier is there for a very important reason - to PROTECT the engine against detonation, and it needs to be left ALONE. It is the most sensitive of all the spark modifiers because it needs to be.

The way to safely make more power in that regard is by having proper performance tuning done by an expert - someone like us, who has specialized in F-series tuning longer than anyone else - not by resorting to corrupting the data that comes into the PCM! The PCM obviously cannot ever do it's job correctly when it's seeing altered data like that, and such measures are taken only by those trying to make a fast buck who do not know what they are doing - and of course, they'll tell you all about how its safe and so much cheaper than having your vehicle correctly tuned - it's fool's play, so steer clear.
