X-CAL2 problems
Well i've had my x-cal2 for several months now and i have been running my 87 perf tune cuz of gas prices. I filled up on 91 and came home to load the 91 tune. I plugged in the x-cal, and nothing. no screen lightup, no text, nothing.
any idea??
any idea??
I heard one other poster having that same problem and it was indeed the cig lighter fuse? Whats up with that, I would think that would be a one in a million unless people are using a ton of accessories powered by their lighter ports? Go figure!

This is very typical, and is just because the cigarette lighter fuse was blown - and that happens because people plug things into them that take more power than this circuit can handle - like call phone chargers, GPS units, radar detectors, etc., or simply don't use proper procedure when connecting or disconnecting such devices & cause a mini-spark that they can't see but that blows the fuse.
So there's nothing wrong with the XCalibrator whatsoever - it was simply a blown fuse on the vehicle.
The cigarette lighter fuse covers the OBD-II port as well, so if it's blown, you can't get any power thru the OBD-II port, either - thus anything you plug into the OBD-II port cannot work. Sometimes technicians cause this by how they handle their diagnostic gear, too - thought that's pretty rare, it's usually the vehicle owner who has plugged something in that required too much power, or did it in an improper sequence, had a key on when they plugged the unit in etc., something that caused the cigarette lighter fuse to blow.
