XCAL2 and 93 octane
Hello to All, I have been burning Citgo 93 octane for about 150 miles. It is much more responsive than the 87. And the 87 was fun too. The tranny shifting is way more aggressive. It is really amazing how much power is coming from it. It seems to be getting better every time I run her. I quess the driving cycles are working, and the tunes are getting adjusted... See my signature, I say that because I would like to know how many trucks out there can really light-em up from a stand still. I can get a couple feet of posi, but then she really hooks up. I am not complaining, I would prefer to hook-up than fall behind in the dust. I know the supercrew are heavy. Which would cause it to hook up quickly... Just wondering if everyone with the supercrew see and feel the same thing. I have to say that she feels super strong, exhaust note seems to be deeper as well. Motor sounds like she is breathing better too. Even playing with her I am getting 13 mpg in the city. I just took her for a run up the sea coast of Maine and New Hampshire, with my Retrax bed cover and the XCAL2. I know I am very near the 20 mpg mark on the hiway. Damn fun to drive...
Citgo is definitely the way to go for gas on the east coast. I got a 3:55 posi and from an idle tromp (750rpm) I get about 5’ or so. If I bring my idle up to 1000rpm they really break loose a little too much then, a lot of wasted rubber.
Glad to hear your enjoying that XCal2 5.4

I was a little put off by some of the problems/noise of the true CAIs that a lot of members posted, even though just about as many reported postive comments. It's always a matter of perspective, I guess, but I didn't want a lot of engine noise coming into the cabin and ruining my beautiful Audiophile sound!
I realize I've given up some performance , but since the XCAL2 is the best bang for the buck and the HP gains are not culmulative anyway, I don't believe I've lost too much. But I feel better knowing the engine is breathing a little easier...

Sorry, not yet, I didn't think about it at the time of install. If I get home in time tonight though before dark I'll snap a couple of photos and post them up for all to see. I do think another member has a pic up in the 2004-2006 forum if you want to do a search for that in the meantime...

I'm running the K & N drop-in, it seems to let the truck breath better and makes no noise. I agree with KRConvert though, my XCAL2 has been the best performance purchase. With the 87 perf tune was able to break the tires loose for 14+ feet in the middle of the day and thats with 33's. Now I just have to STOP doing it or i'm going to be buying new tires soon, not to mention the gas it eats.
