Talking Datalogging

As I sit here pondering my XCAL2 gains. I am wondering how many users actually datalog (no-load and load) and send them in for the really custom/fine tuning that Mike can do? Mike, what is the percentage that require more fine tuning with the data that was sent back for your handy work? I assume that "all" require some sort of retune/custom tune, per each truck's personality. I know that I want to get all I can from this tuner. Safely of course. So I am very interested in the datalogging. Any helpful hints for logging will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all responses........ ............. ......................

Hi All,
Perhaps most people do not datalog, they just use what was sent as a baseline tune from Mike for their truck. I am going to attempt it, it can only get that little bit stronger/smoother with the extra insite from Mike... Still waiting................

I've got an Xcal2 on order from Mike for my '04 F150. I'd like to know if I could use it to datalog my brother's 2000 Lightning? If so, maybe I could get him to buy the LM1 since I would have the Xcal2 and the laptop. Is that all I need to datalog everything, Xcal2+LM1+laptop?

I just received and installed SC2 last week, replacing another programmer.
I think the custom tunes I received are better, and so far pretty good, I'm Happy.
But I got the SC2 for it's user functions and datalogging, too.

I am now on a holy quest to find an affordable lap top with Win XP.

I am pretty sure that you need a dyno or something to measure A/F ratios. I am just going to stick with what I had sent as a baseline tune for now.

You dont have to be on a dyno to get the A/F numbers.

Ya- to do a/f you need an O2 wideband data recorder & logger.
They are not cheap, but if you are into it - cheaper than dyno sessions, and pretty convenient.

We NEVER said that the Calibrator 2 was going to read Air/Fuel ratios by itself - nothing in anything we have said here or anywhere else, and not in anything we have ever emailed anyone either, has ever said that.

The XCalibrator 2 will NOT record your A/F ratios by itself - period. You will need another device to do that - a wideband Air/Fuel ratio tester.

Now there are some low-cost units (like the Innovate Motorsports LM-1 unit that we carry) that CAN be connected to the XCal 2 via an analog cable and with some software setup will allow the XCalibrator 2 to act as a passthru device so that it can OUTPUT the A/F ratios being fed INTO it by an OUTBOARD A/F ratio recorder so you can then see those A/F's in your XCalibrator 2's datalog output file - and a lot of guys are doing just that, so I think some people may be misunderstanding how that really happens.

But the XCalibrator 2 cannot do wideband A/F testing all by itself - you have to have an outboard A/F recorder like at a dyno, or like using the LM-1 patched directly into the XCalibrator 2 to do that.

My "MISTAKE" Mike. I never said you said it would. I just never recall the paperwork saying we needed another type of unit to do so... My mistake, I will have to go over the paperwork again...

I was fooling around with datalogging and was wondering, which parameters do I want to set up to record. Man it looks confusing using live link. There are a ton of things you can check to record. Mike which parameters would better help you with fine tuning. I was wondering if I was to send u some of my datalogging if it would help in fine tuning my 93 performance.
