Just Loaded Xcal2

Received the Xcal2 yesterday...didn't have time to load it up. Went home for lunch today and loaded it up. Documentation says it takes about 12 mins...I think it took me about 5 mins. Very easy..."NO PROBLEMS". I still had 1/2 tank of 87 octane so I loaded the 87 tow tune.
After the installation I cranked it up and took to the road. I didn't expect alot of difference....but I've gotta say....after a couple of minutes..it runs like a new truck. Before / sluggish accelaration, slow sloppy shifts, seemed to be somewhat of a hesitation when starting off. All that seems to have been eliminated. I am really happy with the lower octane tow tune and can't wait to burn up the 87 and fill'er up with the 93 $$$ .
My overall opinion of the tow tune 87 is that it now runs in a way that gives me much more of a pleasing driving experience. It seems tighter and more responsive...and when it shifts at WOT I get alittle of the "seat of the pants" feel...it kinda jumps outta the cage kinda thing. I'll post when I get the 93 in the tank. Also just wanted to say that because of this website I think I was able to reasearch and purchase the best possible product available. The info I read helped me make my choices even though alot of it was a little to technical for me. So keep up the great work!!!!
Oh ya I guess I should add it's a Troyer Tune...Almost forgot

Hi kbc454sc,

Thanks for your post - and yes, in the PRE-2004 F-150's, it will take a lot less time to flash the PCM even for the first time, it's more like the 5 minutes you talked about. It's only those longer 12 minute times in the 2004/2005 new body style PowerPC-based trucks.

Glad to hear you;re enjoying our 8 octane tuning - you;ll *love* what our premium gas tuning does.

Thanks again for your post & have fun!

Loaded 93 oct. high perf. tune yesterday. Big difference...truck basically has come alive..love the shifting. Had a freind who runs a muffler shop install the Magnaflow siso exhaust. Sounds nice...not too loud. Haven't received the AF1.....but sure is nice with the 2 mods on board.

Exactly - the 87 octane tuning does a good job in the pre-2004's, but the premium gas tuning really makes them come alive in a big way.

Congrats on getting your exhaust installed, too!

Thanks for your post & have fun!
