hyper tech vs x-calibrator
hyper tech vs x-calibrator
I recently added a flowmaster 2-chamber exhaust and a k&n fipk system and I plan to add a programmer and I wanted to know what programmer will give me the greatest performance gains reguardless of fuel type. I was planning to get the gen 3 hyper tech but my cousin recomended the x-calibrator 2 and I would like the get some more info on how they compare. I am looking for the greatest power gains.
I am not that familiar with the Hypertech programmer so I can't comment on it. I just ordered an Xcalibrator a few weeks ago from Mike Troyer and I can't wait for it to get here. I don't know much about the Xcal as well but I would say it isn't so much the unit itself that is really important as it is the person tuning it. Based on the many threads I have read here and from many members comments, Mike Troyer is the man when it comes to tuning the F150s as he has been doing it for so many years. My best suggestion is for you to give Mike a call and he can go over all the stuff you need to make an informed decision. Oh and aside from being the best tuner out there, he also will offer you a special price on your Xcal just for being a member of the site so give him a call. His contact info can be found in the Supporting Vendors section, or in many of his responses in this very forum.

huge difference between the two. The Hypertec has generic tuning for all vehicals of that model. An Xcal or Diablo lets you custom tune a specific vehical. There is more to it than this but the custom tuning the biggest difference over all.
Hi Blakerman,
It's not the hardware that determines the power gains, it's the *tuning* inside - that's the first thing you need to know, and by far the most important.
In terms of hardware, Hypertech doesn't even come close to comparing to the XCalibrator 2 - the XCalibrator 2 has far more features, including high-speed datalogging that nobody else has. Tuning-wise, the other poster is right - Hypertech's tuning is "generic" - it is NOT individual vehicle-specific like our custom tuning is.
What determines the actual *results* - meaning how your vehicle performs - is the actual tuning. For the best tuning for F-series vehicles, that comes from us as we've specialized in performance tuning & modifying the F-150 platform for 14 years (longer than anyone else) - we also provide assistance to other companies helping them to develop a number of performance products for these vehicles, as we are well known for our expertise on this platform. Most F-150 owners here come to us for our Troyer Performance custom tuning - even on bone-stock vehicles, as that is what gets the best actual results.
Spend some time here reading the boards, and you will find many of your fellow F-150 owners who have plunked down their hard-earned money for our tuning, & have come back here to post their results & impressions - you'll find the vast majority come to us for their tuning & other performance needs.
And of course, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to go over this with you in thorough detail to let you know just what we can do for your vehicle, your special pricing as a registered member of F-150 Online, etc.
Thanks for your post, & best of luck with your truck whatever you decide!
