Troyer Performance Packages

For any of you that have had the Stage I, II, or III performance packages from Troyer, I'd like to know what you think about the overall feel of the truck afterwards. There are a few posts showing up in the search function but no real great descriptions. I'd like to consolidate more opinions of the packages into one thread.

Thanks for any "real world" information.

My impression....

I bought the Troyer Stage I ( got the custom tune so call it the 1.5 kit ) kit for my 2000 5.4L F150. At first I installed the exhaust. It sounded better and seemed to have a little more bottom end, but nothing you could really feel. Then I installed Air Force one intake and again, it growled a little more, but you could not feel much. Then I installed the Troyer custom tune, said holy shi&^...

I personally think that it is the custom tune is what make the other devices work to their potential. Obviously Troyer has spent a lot of time finding the parts that work well together. To give you an idea of the difference, in stock form the truck would barly spin the tires. Now it will lay two nice black marks and the shift pattern is so much better that it will ocassionaly chirp a second going up a slight incline or around a cruve.

A few of my friends have borrowed the truck before and after the mods and could not believe the difference in performance.

I am very skeptical by nature and honestly did not expect the Stage one kit to preform as well as advertised, but I can honestly say that it actually exceded my expectations.

I must say however, the magnaflow exhaust is a little louder that I would like. At first it was only slightly louder than the stock exhaust, but It has gotten significantly louder over time. It still sounds nice, but has a drone that starts at 1500rpm peeking at 1800rpm when under load like pulling the boat or going up a steep hill. I thought the unit had developed a leak, so I replaced the stainless exhaust clamps with steel ones because they can be torqued tighter without breaking or stripping. I do not think it is leaking, and it is a little louder that I would have prefered, but it is not annoying enough to replace it... ( I should note that a younger person would probably love it )

You can’t go wrong buying performance mods from Troyer Performance . They don’t manufacture any of the performance parts themselves, but they do perform extensive R&D to insure the increased performance claims the manufacture makes are viable and not over inflated. Search around this forum and you will find that Mike delivers the goods.

I have the Stage 2 kit less the AF1 as it is just now shipping. I will update this thread when everything is installed.

I can tell you that with what I have so far the best way to describe it would be that the truck is lighter. Mike told me this before I ordered it, but it is really the best description. With a 7200lb GVW on my Lariat that is pretty impressive.

I do a lot of combined highway/city driving and I find the truck much easier to drive in stop and go traffic due to the better response throughout the range. (especially off the bottom)

I also find that when traveling down the highway you will suddenly notice that you are doing 80 + MPH for no apparent reason. This is the "it feels lighter" syndrome. It just seems like to truck would be happier doing about 95, although that can get expensive with law enforcement.

I am hoping the AF1 will show up today so I should have more shortly.
