1715 Max settings?

i just got a 1715 max microtuner. i installed the towing tune, made no changes, and went for a ride. first gear hit the rev limiter before the tranny shifted, and the shifting was VERY hard. i went back home and checked the settings, and everything is set to the MAXIMUM setting. is this normal? i then installed the performace program, bumped everything down to "ST" (the middle notch) from the highest settings, and went for a ride. this was much better.

i know from reading other posts that i dont want to go more than 2 notches on the settings if i want to not blow something up or pay for expensive parts, etc. so does the MAX part mean it is always set to the maximum settings?

either way, i am more than happy with it!

As always with the 1715 in any non-Lightning F-150, take the "Superchips" shift settings and then bump the 2-3 shift point up exactly 2 notches above the centerline. Everything else should be at the centerline, basically -

Setting everything to MAX is a dumb idea - so you've done the right thing in backing it all down. Just set it up like I've described above & you'll get maximum enjoyment out of it.

By the way - all of this has been gone over many hundreds & hundreds of times before here, & thus can easily be found quickly by using the SEARCH feature.

Good luck!

i think you misread my post. when i plugged the thing in, everything was set to the maximum setting; shift points, shift firmness, etc. my question was "is it normal for the tuner to come from the factory with everything set to the highest setting?"

thanks.
