Cool The chip is in !!

Hey guys,

I installed my chip last night. It was a breeze. Actually I didn't do a whole lot, my buddy did everything. He had just recently put a chip in his powerstroke, so this was a peice of cake for him. In about an hour we were test driving the new configuration. It runs great.

Performance:
It runs great and the shift points are MUCH better. I expected them to be a bit 'rough' but they are smooth and quick. I can feel the truck 'pull' through the 2000-3000 rpm range.

Installation:
I'm not sure how you guys did it, but it was pretty easy to install. I would add 1 step to the process: remove the battery. We had a hell of a time unscrewing the computer. Then we removed the battery and it was smooth sailing from there on. Taking the battery out added about 5-6 minutes to the installation, but it saved A LOT of frustration.

If you are considering a chip, I highly recommend this one.

Now I'm off to change my signature!

Hi Wingnut,

Great post, & glad you got your Superchip!

One point I wanted to mention is that we go over this issue of battery removal in our additional documentation that we write (it's not in the manufacturer's instructions), and in there, we recommend doing that if you have the Offroad package, or if you have the pair of solenoids mounted on the firewall just over top of the computer's wiring harness as some of these vehicles do. Either remove the battery, or use a long extension and a swivel socket to acces the 10mm bolt wihtout removing the battery.

Of course, if you have larger hands, that too can make it easier to either remove the battery or use an extension & swivel socket even if you don't have those compenents in the way there, so there are a number of situations where it's easier to just go ahead and do that, absolutely, good tip!

Hope you're having fun this weekend with your new go-fast part, & glad you had experienced help getting it in.
