Mike T: Specific Instructions?
I recently ordered my SuperChip for my '99 5.4. I am reading many success stories, but it also appears I am reading some horror stories. Obviously I want to avoid the horror stories.
My question is: are these bad experiences a result of poor documentation? Are the instructions and directions clear and "me"- proof (which means that I do not have a PhD in Quantum Computing Engineering).
Just help me ease my mind that I did the right thing in purchasing the product.
Thx...

murfster,
Any mechanical application is simple step by step operations. Seemingly complicated operations like rebuilding an engine are just a lot of simple things that must be done in a precise order. Removing the computer is easy if you have the right tools. You will need a 10mm socket, preferably a ¼ inch drive. A box end wrench can be used instead. The computer harness is on the passenger side fire wall. You can slide your hand down and feel the bolt. In some cases removing the battery helps. The Superchips instructions are good enough to amke it easy for you to do. The hardest part is removing the conformal coating on the contacts.

Hi murfster,
We want you to have a successful installation of course, and we go to rather extreme lengths to insure our documentation is precisely detailed specifically for these vehicles, as we write much more detailed information that even what the manufacturer provides. And as long as you follow those instructions, you'll be fine, as the documentation is thorough, detailed & extensive. Should you have any questions after reading all of that documentation, just give us a call as it says in the documentation, and we'll be happy to go over anything with you. It's a good idea to try and remember that should you have a problem or issue, to please call us right away so we can help you; posting problems here is not the way to get Tech Support from us, as this is not our web site, it's F-150 Online, and you could be waiting until the next time we log on to get an answer here, and then wait again until the next time you on on here after we have responded, and we want to give you quicker service than that, of course. We do try to provide answers and any help we can here, it just needs to be remembered that F-150 Online is a public web site, it's not the Performance Products Technical Support site.
So should you have an issue or a problem, please, let us know by calling us right away, and we'll be happy to provide any assistance needed.
We wish you all the best,
