Thumbs up I got Chipped!

Just wanted to give my 2C on the chip upgrade experience. Easy to install, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! (about 45 minutes) Very interesting to watch all the gages reset after installation. Once the battery is hooked back up and you're ready to start the beast, the gages will do an immediate 'full crash' to the right for about 2-3 seconds while they reset. I noticed an immediate but subtle difference in transmission shifting. There seems to be better throttle response also. As far as 'seat of the pants' knowing a chip is installed, I'm not sure to this point. I don't have many miles on the chip yet so maybe later I can report the additional observations/differences. The analysis to this point: Works as advertised. Thanks Mike.

Hi Casper II,

Yes, the gauges will do a full sweep and return after first installing the Superchip, that's very common.

Glad to see your installation went well, that's why we provide all that additional documentation, to try and cover things that a first-time installer might come across, so there are no surprises. Thanks for emphasizing to follow the directions! Sometimes people get so anxious to get it in that they take shortcuts, and that can cause a problem, of course.

The shifting changes are subtle until you start giving it more throttle; as you give it progressively more throttle opening, the upshifts will get firmer in response. It's calibrated so that when the vehicle is being driven conservatively, the upshifts won't spoil the smooth character of the vehicle. Then as you crack the throttle open more and more, the shifts get firmer in response, so that it's compatible with towing, crusing, or just about anything you might do with the vehicle. The whole idea is to reduce slippage, and make it more responsive. The next time you go to do a pass on a 2-lane road, you'll notice how the downshift delays have been removed along with the transitional spark retard that reduces power for the next few hundred rpm after the downshift, which makes those kinds of passing moves noticeably easier & safer.

As you accumulate more miles, you may notice that it feels a bit stronger with the Superchip. Again, it's basically going to respond to your right foot; there will now be roughly about 10% more power available at just about any throttle position. It's very smooth, sometimes deceptively so; but that's what to expect from it, in round numbers, about a 10% increase in power.

Have fun, & thanks for your post!
