Chip Results
Well, I've had my chip in for a couple of weeks now. I have noticed a 1-2 mile/gallon increase in gas mileage. My truck has all kinds of low end torque as well. Just wanted to let evrybody know that there should be no question as to whether or not to purchase a chip. My chip definitely made huge improvements.
Mike T., or anybody else,
I am fairly happy with the way the transmission shifts now, but I would still like a firmer shift. Can I send the chip back and have you re-program it, or should I just go with a Baughman Engineering or Transgo kit? Thanks.

Hi Lok,
I would say let's talk about this over the phone a bit, as there are pluses and minues to both ways of increasing line pressure.
Yes, we can easily do that in the Superchip, meaning making the shifts firmer still. Some people prefer to do it that way and not mechanically modify their transmission, so they don't have to worry about having a modified transmission come trade-in time. And then some people don't care about that, and prefer to go ahead and install the shift kit. Either way can work just fine, and the costs are roughly about the same overall.
One thing to remember if you decide to install a shift kit is to get one that has multiple levels of firmness, and install it first on it's llightest setting, as you can always go back in and open things up more.
It also gets down to just how hard you want your automatic to hit the gears... if you want it like Neal the HP Freak's, where it will chirp the tires just by holding it in first gear manually and giving it light throttle up to about 3000 rpm, and then move the shifter up into second, then you need a shift kit installed at a heavy level. Neal is using a Bauman Engineering kit installed on Level 5! This basically gives you shifts close to the level of a manual valve body, very firm tire chirpers even on light throttle.
