Question Flip chip switch?

If you go to:
http://www.superchips.com/main.htm

It will provide a well spread out different
price range of chips for Fords.
Why would one cost 265$ and another 425$ and again another at 725$? Does the 725$ Flip Chip have a switch that can de-activate the chip when wanted? What is a flip chip?
Thanks everyone,

Hi Tweaker,

Let's see if I can clear that up a bit for you........

If you read it over and closely examine each, you see that different Fords take different types of Superchips modules, as you have listed. The more expensive units clearly say that they are for the V-10 and Powerstroke diesels only. All other Fords use the other modules.

You don't have to worry about any of that, you don't need any part numbers, etc. That is known automatically when you place your order by virtue of what vehicle & engine you have, in your case with the F-150, it's the 1100. All you need to know is your vehicle's computer code, which you locate by opening the passenger door, and look near the door hinges in the front part of the door frame for the sticker that has 3 letters and 1 number on it. Since you do not have either a V-10 or a Powerstroke diesel, neither the 1200 or the 1400 could ever be applicable to your F-150, they're of course only applicable to either the V-10 or the Powerstroke diesel.

We offer special discounts to F-150 Online participants, so for your exact discounted price, please feel free to shoot us an email or give us a call, as the Webmaster here has strict policies against discussing exact pricing here on the message boards.

The Flip Chips are special 2-program chips that were designed for those who need one program for one purpose or configuration, and another program for a different situation; for example, if someone is running nitrous oxide, etc. In the Powerstroke diesels *only*, we offer 3 different power levels, and some people will have a lower power level program on one side of the Flip Chip, and then the most powerful program on the other side, like racers who are doing 1/4 mile drag racing, truck & tractor pulls, etc. The whole idea of to give everyone what they need for their situation. Unless you have a specific need for 2 different programs, or you need custom programming, you should generally just use the less expensive single-program Superchip, like most people here are doing.

In your case with the F-150, about the only practical use for the Flip Chip when you're not supercharged or running nitrous oxide etc. would be if you wanted to have say, one program for regular gas, and the other for premium gas, some F-150 owners have had us set up Flip Chips for them like that.

The Flip Chip has a 2-position toggle switch, and to change programs you simply shut the engine off, flip the switch, and then drive away.

If you'd like to go over any of this in detail, just give us a call, we're here M-F from 10-7 Eastern, and we're happy to help.
