chips
So... I am a chevy owner, and IU know you all don't like me, but I think I can shed some new light on this subject... I will begin with my old Jetta
My Jetta chip increased power driveability and gas milage, and this is because it was tuning the engina at ALL throttle positions..
I find this to be important....
Next we have my tahoe... When shopping for a superchip, I was told that I could not have one because their module would take the stock program out and put the new one in... However they didn't do their research, and some of the ecus were different, so it would eat the program and not be able to put the new one in or replace the stock one, rendering the car useless... That to me does not sound like a good company... Shouldn't they have known that in the first place???? Anyway I moved on to a JET chip, and it sucks too... ONly full throttle tuning, for 20 cents in gas... I am gonna rip it out next week.... Also one of the companys i order parts from told me that superchips dropped off the face of the earth for anout 2 months and that they didn't know if they went under or what.... I don't think that the big 3 chip companys give a rats *** about putting out a quality product... Otherwise they wouldn't have people like us asking why their products aren't any good to us... Hey superchip guy.. how about tuning at ALL throttle positions???? Also why don't you offer custom tuning for additional aftermarket mods??? ie exhaust intake headers???
THANX for hearing out chevy boy all!!!!

You neen to read more post MR. Chevy man. Superchip does do custom programing and is good for more than just WOT. Call Mike T. He will help you. He has even helped me and I have giving him plenty of *****.
Gorp is right. Mike has posted multiple messages about the chip and the fact that it works at all throttle positions -- on the late model Fords anyhow.
I love my chip and it does work all the time. But, the harder you push the throttle the firmer the transmission shifts become. Really cool.

AdidasCU,
It's funny that you mention the Superchips disappearing act. A buddy of mine was looking for achip for his Chevy and didn't buy and SC because of the same reason.
Everytime I mention to him that I may buy a SC he brings it up as an area not to trust SC. I have yet to hear a response as to what happened to them for the period. I heard thtat they went OOB and filed Bankruptcy, but I don't know that for a fact.
Mike, if you're listening, please respond to this. I'd like some information about what happened to SC during that time.
I'm on the verge of buying a chip and this information could sway my decision.
Thanks,
Wing

I have nothing against you & chevy. I drive my company truck home (Y2K suburban 2500) & it ain't too bad for a chevy. I think a company called superchip(no s) went out of business several months ago. I don't think these new gm processors are set up for mods. I only drive my lariet about 50 miles/week.

Hi Guys,
Sure, I'll be happy to clear this up rather quickly. You're talking about 2 completely different companies!
The company that went out of business was ADS, who called their product a "Super Chip", and there were some legal wranglings between them and Superchips Inc., over the fact that ADS was using that name, and consequently people thought they were getting a real Superchips Inc. Superchip, etc.
They (ADS) folded their doors as of March 2000 I'm told, and yes, they basically just disappeared one day. It's a completely different company from Superchips Inc.
Superchips has been in business non-stop under the same ownership since 1983. They have nothing in common with and never were associated with ADS, the other company that called their product a "Super Chip".
And don't feel like you guys are the only ones to think this, this topic has come up here often ever since ADS folded, and the entire time they called their product a Super Chip we constantly had to let people know they weren't getting a real Superchips Inc. Superchip, many peoplw were confused, that was their strategy apparently, and now they are gone. Perhaps some day the influence of their going bust will finally stop reflecting on Superchips Inc.
I hope that helps your understanding of why people think that Superchips went out of business, they didn't. It was ADS.

Hi AdidasCU,
In my post above to everyone in this thread you will find the explanation of why people have heard that Superchips was out of business, or couldn't make this or that, etc.
If you have any questions about availability of the Superchip for any particular vehicle, just let us know, we do program the GM trucks as well.
Just so you know, Superchips is one of the only companies on the face of the planet that *do* tune and add power at all throttle positions, and not just on wide-open throttle, you've got your facts exactly reversed there, my friend.
Hypertech, Jet, ADS (the company that went out of business, & called their product a "Super Chip"), etc. all only added what little power they made only on full-throttle, doing nothing for driveability, towing, everyday driving, etc., I couldn't agree with you more about the need for tuning at all throttle positions!
As for custom programming, we do that too, for just about any kind of aftermarket mod that could require or benefit from powertrain programming compensation.
If you'd like to go over any of this in detail, please feel free to give us a call, we're always happy to help.
