Wink The BEST chip!

Does Superchips have the best chip? According to the DynoSources people, no.

After seeing exagerated claims posted on another site, I checked out their web site. These guys are telling people they will get 30 HP out of a 4.3 V6 using regular gas! Anyway, I checked out their site just for laughs. Then I noticed that on one of the pages they had a familiar logo. Could it be?

Tucked in on the page was the "Superchips modem dealer" logo. Seemed like these guys need a place to get a quality chip from!

Hi Signmaster,

Hmm, 30 hp from a 4.3 V-6 on regular gas from powertrain programming? That would be a miracle, as it just isn't possible in the program, whether it's a GM 4.3 V-6 or a Ford 4.2 V-6 in one of these F-150's.

Cool

Mike,

Strange how they make such big claims, all on regular gas. If these chips actually worked, why would they also sell the Superchips?

The only thing I thought was even more funny was some of the S-10 owners that actually belived it.....

Hi Signmaster,

Your point is quite appropriate!

There were a few mid-90's GM V-8 trucks that could get some power gains from powertrain programming and still use regular gas, we saw that in a few trucks like the 1995 GM 350 V-8 1/2 ton series pickups (1500's), we still make chips for them. They use the pre-OBD-II design of course, and so it's a simple replaceable socketed eprom chip. We had a few customers with those vehicles years ago that ran regular gas even though the Superchip requires premium, and a couple of them told us that even when running regular, they didn't get any detoantion, and felt good seat-of-the-pants gains. Those particular trucks were tuned just that conservatively from the factory, I can't think of another vehicle tuned so very conservatively that decent gains could be had on regular fuel via powertain programming.

We make chips for many of the 4.3 V-6's up thru the 1995 model year, and typical gains on those when programming for premium run about 16 hp at the flywheel, just to give you a rough idea. So them getting basically twice as much power as we got on premium, via powertrain programming and still be able to run on regular just isn't going to happen, I agree.
